Presidente Altino is a train station on ViaMobilidade Lines 8-Diamond and 9-Emerald, located in the district of President Altino in the city of Osasco. History The station had its construction started in mid-1918 by Sorocaba Railway, named ''Km 14'', but in the same year was renamed to ''Presidente Altino'', a tribute to Altino Arantes, then President of the State of São Paulo São Paulo (, ; Portuguese for ' Saint Paul') is the most populous city in Brazil, and is the capital of the state of São Paulo, the most populous and wealthiest Brazilian state, located in the country's Southeast Region. Line 8 (Diamond) ( pt, Linha 8–Diamante), formerly Line B (Gray), is a line of the São Paulo Metropolitan Trains system in Greater São Paulo, Brazil. Since 27 January 2022, ViaMobilidade operates the line for 30 years, along with Line 9-Emerald. Altino Arantes Marques
Altino Arantes Marques (1876–1965) was a President of São Paulo. He was born in Batatais and graduated from the Law School of São Paulo in 1895. He was a member of the Paulista Republican Party. Before he became the president of the state of São Paulo, he was a federal deputy for two terms: (1906–1908) and (1909–1911). He was also secretary of state of the interior from 1911 to 1915. Presidency During his administration, the second artificial valorisation (price-setting) of coffee was promoted (the first was in 1906, by the Tabuaté Agreement). With the frost of 1918, this product, doubled in price in the Santos' Port, giving the Altino Arantes government much revenue. With reduced production, it was possible to put the price premium into the world market, allowing the government to take control of the Sorocabana Railroad from a North-American group. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. Imperatriz Leopoldina (CPTM)
Imperatriz Leopoldina is a train station on ViaMobilidade Line 8-Diamond, located in the district of Vila Leopoldina in São Paulo. History Besides the railway crosses the region west to district of Lapa, which was created in 1894 with the name of Vila Leopoldina, not any station, stop, or derivative installation was built until 1925, when the recent founded São Paulo Coffee Institute built a Coffee Regulator Warehouse next to Km 11 of the main Estrada de Ferro Sorocabana track, in an area given by the company. Next to the warehouse, a small traffic control checkpoint was built, as some commuter trains stopped there occasionally, besides the Km 11 post wasn't a station. On 12 October 1926, a misplaced track switch key made a N2 night train (with 11 cars), going from the countryside to São Paulo terminal, to enter a detour in the Regulator Warehouse and crash with a coffee cargo train.
