Pihlajaniemi (Finnish; ''Rönnudden'' in Swedish) is a district of the city of Turku, in Finland. It is located to the south of the city centre, on the coastline of the Archipelago Sea. Pihlajaniemi shares the new luxurious residential development of Majakkaranta with the neighbouring district of Korppolaismäki. Finnish Naval Headquarters is located in Pihlajaniemi, at the former garrison of Heikkilä. The city of Turku, Finland is divided into nine wards (''see Wards of Turku''), which in turn are divided into 78 non-governmental districts ( in Finnish, in Swedish). These are composed of individual suburbs, and in the very centre of the city, sectors of the central business district are identified by Roman numerals. Korppolaismäki (Finnish; ''Korpolaisbacken'' in Swedish) is a district of the city of Turku, in Finland. It is located to the south of the city centre, on the eastern side of the mouth of the river Aura. The district shares the new luxurious residential area of Majakkaranta with the neighbouring district of Pihlajaniemi. The current () population of Korppolaismäki is 349, and it is increasing at an annual rate of 0.29%. 19.20% of the district's population are under 15 years old, while 12.32% are over 65. Finnish Language
Finnish ( endonym: or ) is a Uralic language of the Finnic branch, spoken by the majority of the population in Finland and by ethnic Finns outside of Finland. Finnish is one of the two official languages of Finland (the other being Swedish). In Sweden, both Finnish and Meänkieli (which has significant mutual intelligibility with Finnish) are official minority languages. The Kven language, which like Meänkieli is mutually intelligible with Finnish, is spoken in the Norwegian county Troms og Finnmark by a minority group of Finnish descent. Finland Swedish or Fenno-Swedish ( sv, finlandssvenska; fi, suomenruotsi) is a general term for the variety of the Swedish language and a closely related group of Swedish dialects spoken in Finland by the Swedish-speaking population, commonly also referred to as Finland Swedes, as their first language. For the most part, these dialects and the dialects spoken in Sweden are mutually intelligible, although some archaic dialects in Ostrobothnia are practically unintelligible to Swedish-speaking people in southern Finland (and in Sweden). Most Swedish-speaking Finns emphasize that Finland Swedish is not a language separate from the Swedish of Sweden. Turku ( ; ; sv, Åbo, ) is a city and former capital on the southwest coast of Finland at the mouth of the Aura River, in the region of Finland Proper (''Varsinais-Suomi'') and the former Turku and Pori Province (''Turun ja Porin lääni''; 1634–1997). Archipelago Sea
The Archipelago Sea ( fi, Saaristomeri, sv, Skärgårdshavet) is a part of the Baltic Sea between the Gulf of Bothnia, the Gulf of Finland and the Sea of Åland, within Finnish territorial waters. By some definitions it contains the largest archipelago in the world by the number of islands, although many of the islands are very small and tightly clustered.
