Districts Of Turku
The city of Turku, Finland is divided into nine wards (''see Wards of Turku''), which in turn are divided into 78 non-governmental districts ( in Finnish, in Swedish). These are composed of individual suburbs, and in the very centre of the city, sectors of the central business district are identified by Roman numerals. This is a list of the districts in Turku in alphabetical order, grouped by wards. The names are given first in Finnish, and then in Swedish (if applicable) in brackets. For districts that have an English name, it is given first with other languages following. When a district is divided between two or three wards, it is listed under each and this is indicated by a footnote. Pitkämäki
Pitkämäki (Finnish; ''Långbacka'' in Swedish) is a district of the city of Turku, in Finland. It is located in the southeast of the city, and consists of several residential suburbs and industrial area. Pitkämäki is the only district in Turku to be divided among three different wards: the industrial area belongs to the City Centre ward, the high-density residential area of Suikkila to Kuninkoja, and the low-density residential area of Muhkuri to Naantalintie. Pansio is a district and a suburb of the city of Turku, Finland. It is located in the western part of the city. It has a population of 2,809 (), and an annual population growth of -3.83%. 19.25% of the district's population are under 15 years old, while 11.85% are over 65. II District, Turku
The II District is one of the central districts of Turku, Finland. It is located on the east side of the river Aura, between ''Uudenmaankatu'' and ''Kaskenkatu''. The district is located on the historical centre of the city, and contains numerous cultural and historical venues, such as the Luostarinmäki handicrafts museum, the Aboa Vetus & Ars Nova twin museums, and the Old Great Square, the city's oldest marketplace. It also hosts events such as the Medieval Market of Turku. A large portion of the district's land area is also taken up by the ''Vartiovuori'' park. Itäharju ( sv, Österås) is a district in the Itäharju-Varissuo ward of the city of Turku, in Finland. It is located to the east of the city centre, and consists mostly of industrial area, brownfields and low-density residential area. The III District is one of the central districts of Turku, Finland. It is located on the east side of the river Aura, between ''Kaskenkatu'' and ''Martinkatu''. Lauste (Finnish; ''Laustis'' in Swedish) is a district and a suburb of the city of Turku, Finland. It is located in the eastern part of the city, bordering the neighbouring city of Kaarina. It is rather densely populated, having a population of 3,405 (). Its population is rapidly decreasing, however – it has an annual population growth rate of -5.73%, which is the lowest of all districts of Turku. 17.00% of the district's population are under 15 years old, while 11.51% are over 65. The district's linguistic makeup is 75.18% Finnish, 1.59% Swedish, and 23.23% other. This reflects the fact that Lauste is one of the areas with the highest proportion of immigrants in the city.
