Pitkämäki (Finnish; ''Långbacka'' in Swedish) is a district of the city of Turku, in Finland. It is located in the southeast of the city, and consists of several residential suburbs and industrial area. Pitkämäki is the only district in Turku to be divided among three different wards: the industrial area belongs to the City Centre ward, the high-density residential area of Suikkila to Kuninkoja, and the low-density residential area of Muhkuri to Naantalintie. The current () population of Pitkämäki is 2,886, and it is decreasing at an annual rate of 0.28%. 13.17% of the district's population are under 15 years old, while 23.11% are over 65. The city of Turku, Finland is divided into nine wards (''see Wards of Turku''), which in turn are divided into 78 non-governmental districts ( in Finnish, in Swedish). These are composed of individual suburbs, and in the very centre of the city, sectors of the central business district are identified by Roman numerals. The ward's boundaries correspond approximately to those of the city's central business district, and it borders all the other wards of Turku except for Maaria-Paattinen (Ward 9). The City Centre ward is the largest ward in Turku, with a population of 51,471 () and an annual population change of -0.29%. 7.70% of the ward's population are under 15 years old, while 20.19% are over 65. Kuninkoja is a ward ( in Finnish, in Swedish) of Turku, Finland, also known as Ward 7. The ward is located to the northwest of the city centre and named after the historical area of the city that it occupies. There is also a district called Kuninkoja in the neighbouring municipality of Raisio. The ward is located to the west of the city and named after the major route that passes through the ward in the direction of Naantali. The ward also includes the island of Ruissalo. Finnish Language
Finnish ( endonym: or ) is a Uralic language of the Finnic branch, spoken by the majority of the population in Finland and by ethnic Finns outside of Finland. Finnish is one of the two official languages of Finland (the other being Swedish). In Sweden, both Finnish and Meänkieli (which has significant mutual intelligibility with Finnish) are official minority languages. The Kven language, which like Meänkieli is mutually intelligible with Finnish, is spoken in the Norwegian county Troms og Finnmark by a minority group of Finnish descent. Finland Swedish or Fenno-Swedish ( sv, finlandssvenska; fi, suomenruotsi) is a general term for the variety of the Swedish language and a closely related group of Swedish dialects spoken in Finland by the Swedish-speaking population, commonly also referred to as Finland Swedes, as their first language. For the most part, these dialects and the dialects spoken in Sweden are mutually intelligible, although some archaic dialects in Ostrobothnia are practically unintelligible to Swedish-speaking people in southern Finland (and in Sweden). Most Swedish-speaking Finns emphasize that Finland Swedish is not a language separate from the Swedish of Sweden. Turku
Turku ( ; ; sv, Åbo, ) is a city and former capital on the southwest coast of Finland at the mouth of the Aura River, in the region of Finland Proper (''Varsinais-Suomi'') and the former Turku and Pori Province (''Turun ja Porin lääni''; 1634–1997). Suburb
A suburb (more broadly suburban area) is an area within a metropolitan area, which may include commercial and mixed-use, that is primarily a residential area. A ward is a local authority area, typically used for electoral purposes.
