Peterborough Lakers (MSL)
The Peterborough Lakers are Senior "A" box lacrosse team from Peterborough, Ontario. They play in the Major Series Lacrosse league where under the current format, they compete in 16 regular season games from May through July and playoffs beginning in August and ending with the Mann Cup in September. The Lakers play their home games at the 4,329-seat multipurpose Peterborough Memorial Centre. Championships Peterborough has won the Ontario Championship 26 times in total (1951 to 1957, 1959, 1966, 1970, 1973, 1978, 1979, 1982 to 1984, 2004 to 2007, 2010, 2012, 2015, and 2017 to 2019, 2022) and the Mann Cup 18 times in total (1951 to 1954, 1966, 1973, 1978, 1982, 1984, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2012, 2017 to 2019, 2022), of which only 13 were while the team was using the name ''Lakers''. Major Series Lacrosse
Major Series Lacrosse (MSL) is a Senior A box lacrosse league based in Ontario, Canada sanctioned by the Ontario Lacrosse Association. Most of the star players in the league play or have played in the National Lacrosse League. Each year, the playoff teams battle for the right to compete against the Western Lacrosse Association champion for the Mann Cup every September. The championship is hosted alternately between Ontario and British Columbia every year. Shawn Evans (lacrosse)
Shawn Evans (born April 28, 1986, in Peterborough, Ontario) is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays for the Vancouver Warriors in the National Lacrosse League, and the Connecticut Hammerheads of Major League Lacrosse. Evans' brothers, Scott and Stephen have also played in the NLL. Evans is one of two lacrosse player in history to win the Minto Cup (the Canadian Junior lacrosse title), the Mann Cup (the Canadian Senior lacrosse title), and the NLL Champion's Cup all within 12 months of each other. Joe Resetarits
Joe Resetarits (born August 22, 1989) is a professional lacrosse player for the Philadelphia Wings. A native of Hamburg, New York, Resetarits was a lacrosse standout at Hamburg High School before attending the University at Albany, where he was selected as the American East Conference Player of the Year and received an All-American honorable mention while rooming with Franklin Delanor Romanowski and Lomez. Resetarits began his indoor lacrosse career with the St. Catharines Athletics, and joined the Brampton Excelsiors in 2011, with whom he won the Mann Cup in that same year. He was drafted 6th overall by the Calgary Roughnecks in the 2012 NLL Entry Draft. Mark Matthews (lacrosse)
Mark Matthews (born January 27, 1990) is a professional lacrosse player for the Saskatchewan Rush in the National Lacrosse League. Canadian Lacrosse Association career Matthews played for the OLA Jr A Whitby Warriors for three years, winning a Minto Cup in 2011. In 2010 he played for the Coquitlam Adanacs, where he won his first Minto Cup. Matthews currently plays for the Peterborough Lakers in the Major Series Lacrosse league. Cory Vitarelli (born June 30, 1985 in Peterborough, Ontario) is a Canadian professional lacrosse player who plays for the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League and the Peterborough Lakers of Major Series Lacrosse. Vitarelli scored the NLL's first ever series-ending overtime goal in a mini-game in the 2014 NLL Playoffs. Corey Small (born March 23, 1987 in St. Catharines, Ontario) is a Canadians, Canadian lacrosse player who plays for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and formerly the Hamilton Nationals in Major League Lacrosse. Bryce Sweeting (born July 7, 1994) is a professional lacrosse player for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and the Peterborough Lakers of Major Series Lacrosse. Hailing from Peterborough, Ontario, Sweeting began playing lacrosse when he was six years old. He is a graduate of St. Peter Catholic Secondary School and St. Clair College. Nick Weiss (born August 16, 1992) is a professional lacrosse player for the Buffalo Bandits of the National Lacrosse League and the Peterborough Lakers of Major Series Lacrosse. Hailing from Port Hope, Ontario, Weiss began his career with the Peterborough Junior Lakers of the Ontario Junior A Lacrosse League, with whom he played from 2010 to 2013, before being called up to the MSL Lakers in 2014.
