Paul Fairburn
Paul Fairburn is a British online marketing consultant. He started out working in commercial radio and managed a number of different stations, before moving into digital operations for Chrysalis Radio (later Global Radio). Career Paul Fairburn started as a journalist working for Pennine Radio and during the 1980s was a presenter on Pennine Radio and Radio Aire. In 1990 he moved back to Radio Aire to become Programme Controller, and was responsible for the launch and success of Magic 828. He then became the Programme Director of 100.7 Heart FM in Birmingham, later being promoted to Managing Director of both Heart FM and Galaxy 102.2, Birmingham. Whilst there he made the news for allowing listeners to vote on whether to burn 5,000 a woman had won in a competition and was going to spend on plastic surgery. Horsforth
Horsforth is a town and civil parishes in England, civil parish within the City of Leeds, in West Yorkshire, England, lying about five miles north-west of Leeds city centre. Historically a village within the West Riding of Yorkshire, it had a population of 18,895 at the 2011 Census. It became part of the City of Leeds metropolitan borough in 1974. Capital Birmingham is a local radio station owned and operated by Global Radio as part of the Capital radio network. It broadcasts to Birmingham from studios at Brindleyplace in Birmingham City Centre. In April 2019, Capital Birmingham was merged with a sister station in the East Midlands to form Capital Midlands. Pennine Radio was the original name for what is now Pulse 1 in Bradford, the independent local radio station for West Yorkshire, England. It was launched on 16 September 1975. History Pennine Radio was the idea of Steve Harris and Terry Bate, the latter being a founding member of Metro Radio in Newcastle and Radio Trent in Nottingham. Its first presenter was Steve Merike and the first record played was Honeybus', 'I Can't Let Maggie Go'. Radio Aire was an Independent Local Radio station, serving Leeds and West Yorkshire. The station was merged and relaunched as Greatest Hits Radio Yorkshire, as part of a rebrand, on 1 September 2020. History Radio Aire was launched at 6am on 1 September 1981 by breakfast presenter Graham Thornton – the first song played on air was '' Pilot of the Airwaves'' by Charlie Dore. Greatest Hits Radio West Yorkshire (previously Magic 828 and Radio Aire 2) is a local radio station serving West Yorkshire on 96.3 FM, DAB, Online and App. History Magic 828 Magic 828 was launched by Roger Kirk at 8:28 am on 17 July 1990. The station was formed due to Radio Aire splitting its AM and FM frequencies, with Radio Aire rebranding as Aire FM. The station broadcast on 828 kHz AM and the first song played was "Magical Mystery Tour" by The Beatles. The 'Magic 828' name was created by Bob Preedy who was a presenter on Radio Aire at the time.
