Prévost (electoral District)
Prévost is a provincial electoral district in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada that elected members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes the municipality of Sainte-Sophie. It was created for the 1973 election from parts of Montcalm and Terrebonne districts. Its final election was in 2008. It disappeared in the 2012 election and the successor electoral district was Saint-Jérôme. As of its final election, it consisted of the municipalities of Prévost and Saint-Jérôme. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, the eponymous municipality of Prévost moved from the defunct Prévost electoral district to the Bertrand electoral district; the remaining municipality of Saint-Jérôme then became a separate new electoral district in its own right, named Saint-Jérôme. La Rivière-du-Nord (''The Rivière-du-Nord'' or ''The River of the North'') is a regional county municipality in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada. The seat is in Saint-Jérôme. Saint-Jérôme is a provincial electoral district in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. Its territory corresponds exactly to the city of Saint-Jérôme. It was created for the 2012 election from part of the former Prévost electoral district. The Prévost electoral district consisted solely of the town of Prévost and of the city of Saint-Jérôme. Argenteuil is a provincial electoral district in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes the municipalities of Saint-Colomban, Lachute and Brownsburg-Chatham. It was created for the 1867 election, and an electoral district of that name existed even earlier: see Argenteuil (Province of Canada). Lucie Papineau (born November 19, 1946) is a former Canadian politician who represented the riding of Prévost in the National Assembly of Quebec from 1997 to 2007. 2007 Quebec General Election
The 2007 Quebec general election was held in the Canadian province of Quebec on March 26, 2007 to elect members of the 38th National Assembly of Quebec. The Quebec Liberal Party led by Premier Jean Charest managed to win a plurality of seats, but were reduced to a minority government, Quebec's first in 129 years, since the 1878 general election. The Action démocratique du Québec, in a major breakthrough, became the official opposition. The Parti Québécois was relegated to third-party status for the first time since the 1973 election. The Liberals won their lowest share of the popular vote since Confederation, and the PQ with their 28.35% of the votes cast won their lowest share since 1973 and their second lowest ever (ahead of only the 23.06% attained in their initial election campaign in 1970). Martin Camirand
Martin Camirand (born April 3, 1965) is a politician from Quebec, Canada. He was an Action démocratique du Québec (ADQ) Member of the National Assembly for the electoral district of Prévost from 2007 to 2008. Born in Saint-Jérôme, Quebec, Camirand obtained a bachelor's degree in ecology after studies at the Université du Québec à Montréal and became a technician in physical sciences, chemistry and biology for 20 years at the Polyvalente Saint-Jérôme and also served as a coach of an elite league hockey club. He served as city councillor in Bellefeuille from 1999 to 2001 and in Saint-Jérôme from 2001 to his election at the legislature and was a member of the executive committee in the amalgamated city. Gilles Robert (born March 5, 1955) is a Canadian politician and teacher. Robert represented the riding of Prévost in the National Assembly of Quebec from 2008 to 2012. He is a member of the Parti Québécois. Rousseau is a provincial electoral district in the Lanaudière and Laurentides regions of Quebec, Canada, that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes the municipalities of Saint-Lin–Laurentides and Sainte-Julienne. It was created for the 1981 election from parts of the Prévost, Joliette-Montcalm and L'Assomption electoral districts. 2018 Quebec General Election
The 2018 Quebec general election was held on October 1, 2018, to elect members to the National Assembly of Quebec. The election saw a landslide victory for the Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ) led by François Legault, which won 74 of 125 seats, giving the party a majority and unseating the Quebec Liberal Party. The Liberals became the Official Opposition with 31 seats. This election was the first won by the CAQ, which had previously been the third party in the legislature. It was also the first since 1966 that had been won by a party other than the Liberals or Parti Québécois.
