Argenteuil (provincial Electoral District)
Argenteuil is a provincial electoral district in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. It notably includes the municipalities of Saint-Colomban, Lachute and Brownsburg-Chatham. It was created for the 1867 election, and an electoral district of that name existed even earlier: see Argenteuil (Province of Canada). The territory of the Argenteuil electoral district in the 2011 electoral map is unchanged from its territory in the 2001 electoral map. From 1992 to 2001, the riding also included the municipalities of Mirabel and Huberdeau. Argenteuil Regional County Municipality
Argenteuil is a regional county municipality located in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada. Its seat is Lachute. History In 1682, Charles-Joseph d'Ailleboust was granted by Louis de Buade de Frontenac, Governor General of New France, a domain of of land. This fiefdom was bounded by the Ottawa River to the south, a line through the center of the hamlet of Carillon in the west and Clear Lake (''Lac Clair'') to the north. Since Ailleboust already owned a house in Argenteuil near Paris, he called his domain Argenteuil Seigneury. In 1697, the Lord of Ailleboust and his wife Catherine Le Gardeur sold their seigneury to their son Pierre d'Ailleboust d'Argenteuil. Subsequently over the years, the fiefdom was held by Pierre-Louis Panet, and then by Major Murray. Mirabel is a suburb of Montreal, located on the North Shore in southern Quebec. Mirabel is also the name of a territory equivalent to a regional county municipality (TE) and census division (CD) of Quebec, coextensive with the city of Mirabel. Its geographical code is 74. Brownsburg-Chatham is a municipality in the Laurentides region of Quebec, Canada, part of the Argenteuil Regional County Municipality. Laurentides
The Laurentides () is a region of Quebec. While it is often called the Laurentians in English, the region includes only part of the Laurentian mountains. It has a total land area of and its population was 589,400 inhabitants as of the 2016 Census. The area is the traditional territory of the Algonquin First Nation. French Canadians began settlement in the first half of the 19th century, establishing an agricultural presence throughout the valleys. During the 20th century, the area also became a popular tourist destination, based on a cottage and lake culture in the summer, and a downhill and cross-country ski culture in the winter.
