Pinglin District
Pinglin District (a.k.a. Ping-Lin, ) is a rural district of southeastern New Taipei, Taiwan. It is the third-largest district of New Taipei City and it is located in the mountainous area bordering Yilan County. Overview Pinglin is part of the water district of the greater Taipei area as the Feicui Dam is located in the neighboring Shiding District, so land development is restricted. Pinglin is most known for producing pouchong tea. The Pinglin Tea Museum is the world's largest tea museum. Over 80% of its residents are tea growers or are involved in the tea business. District (Republic Of China)
Districts are administrative subdivisions of the Republic of China (Taiwan)'s special municipalities of the second level and provincial cities of the third level formerly under its provinces. There are two types of district in the administrative scheme. Provincial Highway 9 (Taiwan)
Provincial Highway 9 is an important highway across eastern Taiwan from Taipei City to Fangshan, Pingtung, Pingtung County. This provincial highway, at 476.1 km long, is the longest provincial highway in Taiwan and passes the regions of Taipei City, New Taipei City, Yilan County, Hualien County, Taitung County and Pingtung County. Route Description The highway begins in front of Executive Yuan in downtown Taipei. It continues along Zhongshan South Road (中山南路) and Roosevelt Road (羅斯福路) until it reaches Xindian, New Taipei. From there the highway follows Beixin Road (北新路) and later becomes Bei-Yi Highway (北宜公路). The highway passes through mountainous regions, enters Shiding and Pinglin in New Taipei City before reaching Yilan County. Chiang Wei-shui
Chiang Wei-shui (; 6 August 1890 – 5 August 1931) was a Taiwanese physician and activist. He was a founding member of the Taiwanese Cultural Association and the Taiwanese People's Party. He is seen as one of the most important figures in Taiwan's resistance movement against Japanese rule. He once wrote a short essay on Taiwan called ''Certificate of Bedside Diagnosis'' or ''Certificate of Clinical Diagnosis'' (臨床講義) about how the patient (Taiwan) suffered from severe culture malnutrition. Written in the form of a medical examination, it is his most famous work. Biography Chiang was born in Yilan during the Qing Dynasty rule. Beishi River Historical Trail
Beishi River Historical Trail () is a trail in Pinglin District and Shuangxi District in New Taipei, Taiwan. Geology The trail follows the paths along Beishi River for a distance of 2.6 km. It has two entrances, one located near Heilongtan Campground in Pinglin District and the other located at Liaojiaokeng Community in Shuangxi District.
