Negeri Sembilan (, Negeri Sembilan Malay: ''Nogoghi Sombilan'', ''Nismilan'') is a state in Malaysia which lies on the western coast of Peninsular Malaysia. It borders Selangor on the north, Pahang in the east, and Malacca and Johor to the south. Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly
The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly ( ms, Dewan Undangan Negeri Sembilan) is the state legislature of the Malaysian state of Negeri Sembilan. It consists of 36 members who represent single-member constituencies throughout the state. Elections are held no more than five years apart, and are usually conducted simultaneously with elections to the federal parliament and other state assemblies (except Sarawak). It is unicameral. First-past-the-post Voting
In a first-past-the-post electoral system (FPTP or FPP), formally called single-member plurality voting (SMP) when used in single-member districts or informally choose-one voting in contrast to ranked voting, or score voting, voters cast their vote for a candidate of their choice, and the candidate who receives the most votes wins even if the top candidate gets less than 50%, which can happen when there are more than two popular candidates. As a winner-take-all method, FPTP often produces disproportional results (when electing members of an assembly, such as a parliament) in the sense that political parties do not get representation according to their share of the popular vote. This usually favours the largest party and parties with strong regional support to the detriment of smaller parties without a geographically concentrated base. Napsiah Omar
Napsiah binti Omar (21 April 1943 – 16 April 2018) was a Malaysian educator and politician. The daughter of United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) activists, Napsiah was born in Negeri Sembilan. She studied zoology and botany at the Australian National University and received a BSc in nutrition and education from Cornell University. From 1969 to 1982, Napsiah taught at the Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, becoming associate professor and head of the Department of Human Studies. In 1972, she joined the local branch of the UMNO.
