Philippines Census
The Philippine census is a regularly occurring and official inventory of the human population and housing units in the Philippines. Since 1970, the population has been enumerated every five years. Results from the censuses are used to allocate congressional seats and fund government programs. The mid-year census is known as the Census of Population (POPCEN), while the decennial census is referred to as the Census of Population and Housing (CPH). By virtue of Republic Act No. 10625, known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, censuses in the Philippines are administered by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) since the 2015 census. Dasmariñas (colloquially shortened to Dasma), officially the City of Dasmariñas ( fil, Lungsod ng Dasmariñas), is a 1st class component city in the province of Cavite, Philippines. With a land area of and a population of 703,141 people according to the 2020 census, it is the largest city both in terms of area and population in Cavite. Being located just from Imus and south of Manila, the growing congestion and outward urban expansion of the Manila Metropolitan area has led to its rapid development in the late 1900s. 2020 Philippine Census
The 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) is the fifteenth census in the Philippines and is the second census conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority. Pilot run The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) conducted a pilot run of the census from May 20 to June 17, 2019 covering eight areas. A new computer-aided system was tested, with PSA personnel to use an electronic questionnaire through digital tablets. Postponement The census was originally scheduled to start on May 4, 2020. The conduct of the census was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The census was planned to be held sometime after the lifting of the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon which was imposed as a response to the health crisis. The Philippine Statistics Authority (Filipino: ''Pangasiwaan ng Estadistika ng Pilipinas''), abbreviated as PSA, is the central statistical authority of the Philippine government that ''collects, compiles, analyzes and publishes statistical information on economic, social, demographic, political affairs and general affairs'' of the people of the Philippines and enforces the ''civil registration functions'' in the country. 2015 Philippine Census
The 2015 Census of Population (POPCEN 2015) is the fourteenth census in the Philippines and is the first census conducted by the Philippine Statistics Authority. Background The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) was formed from the merger of the National Statistics Office and three other major statistical government agencies by virtue of Republic Act 10625, or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013. The same law obliges the PSA to conduct the national censuses in the Philippines starting with the 2015 census. 90,000 enumerators and 23,000 supervisors were employed for the conduct of the census. Enumerators made house-to-house visits and institutional surveys for the census. The census began on August 10, 2015. The census was criticized by the National Council on Disability Affairs for excluding questions regarding disability.
