Periya Gounder Ponnu
''Periya Gounder Ponnu'' () is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language drama film, directed by Manivasagam. The film stars R. Sarathkumar and Gautami, with Manorama, Goundamani, Senthil, Jaiganesh, Vadivukkarasi, Delhi Ganesh and Vijayaraj in supporting roles. It was released on 28 February 1992. Plot Periya Samy (Jai Ganesh), called Periya Gounder by the villagers, is the village chief and a wealthy respected man in his village. His daughter Manjula (Gautami), an arrogant girl who studied in the city, comes back to her village during summer vacations. Her cousin Thangamuthu (R. Sarathkumar) is an educated blacksmith and lives with his widow mother ( Manorama), he is the future husband of Manjula as per the village custom. But Periya Samy doesn't want to marry a man from a poor family, so he refuses Thangamuthu and Manjula's marriage. Manivasagam
Manivasagam (died 2001) was an Indian people, Indian film director, producer and screenwriter who worked on Tamil films. Career Manivasagam began his career with ''Namma Ooru Poovatha'' (1990) and continued to work on village action dramas, often collaborating with actor Sarath Kumar. He often produced his own films, and credited his wife, Rajeswari Manivasagam, as the chief producer. The failure of his film, ''Nadodi Mannan (1995 film), Nadodi Mannan'' (1995), prompted the director to take a break from directing films. His final release was ''Mappillai Gounder'' (1997) which also opened to negative reviews and performed poorly at the box office. Manivasagam died in 2001. The magazine was established by Kalki Krishnamurthy, a popular Tamil language, Tamil novelist and Indian freedom fighter, in 1941. Kalki Sadasivam, T Sadasivam was the magazine's co-founder. Vasudevan (15 June 1944 – 20 February 2011), known as Malaysia Vasudevan, was a Malaysian-Indian playback singer and actor in Tamil cinema. Early life Malaysia Vasudevan's parents were from Palakkad. Chattu Nair of Ottappalam and Ammalu of Polpulli, along with their families migrated to British Malaya in search of a livelihood. After a few years, Chattu Nair married Ammalu in an arranged marriage. Vasudevan was born on 15 June 1944 as their eighth and youngest child.
