People's Football Stadium
The People's Football Stadium is a football stadium located in Lyari, a neighbourhood in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It is owned by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation, formerly City District Government of Karachi. It has a capacity of 40,000. Stadium is part of a sports complex which also houses a boxing arena having capacity of 5000 spectators, and Gymnasium sports complex where indoor sports like volleyball, badminton and basketball are contested. Overview The stadium was built in 1988, and opened on 9 December 1995. It covers an area of . In 1999, when Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto came into power, new floodlights imported from France worth PKR 30.7 million were installed, to enable evening matches to take place. The Pakistan national football team moved to the Peoples Football Stadium from the Railway Stadium in Lahore. 2018–19 Pakistan Premier League
The 2018–19 Pakistan Premier League was the 61st season of Pakistan domestic football and the 12th season of the Pakistan Premier League, and the first season to be played since 2014–15. The season is scheduled to be held in Multan, Karachi and Lahore between 25 September and 11 January 2019, with 16 teams participating (12 PPL teams and 4 winner teams of second-tier playoffs). Each team would get to play each other twice, meaning in a season they would play 30 games. The bottom four teams get relegated to the second tier. The team that finishes first would get qualification in the AFC Cup, but AFC denied entry of Pakistani football clubs in 2019 AFC Cup because of incomplete licensing regulations due to absence of footballing activity since the end of 2014-15 season. 2012 KPT Challenge Cup
The 2012 National Football Challenge Cup was the 22nd edition of National Football Challenge Cup, the domestic cup competition in Pakistani football. The edition was sponsored by Karachi Port Trust, therefore, it was also known as the 2012 KPT Challenge Cup. The tournament was held in Karachi, with KPT Stadium and People's Football Stadium having two matches played simultaneously. Khan Research Laboratories were the defending champions, having won their third title the previous year after defeating National Bank 1–0 in the finals. Geo Super Football League
The Geo Super Football League or SFL is the first proper professional inter-city football league of Pakistan, with the support of the PFF. It was established in 2007 and is the first time that Pakistani club football matches are telecast live on television via GEO Super. The SFL runs separate to the Pakistan Premier League and at the moment, the winners of the SFL will not be declared the official champions of Pakistan like the PPL winners. The Karachi Football League is a semi-professional football league based in Karachi, Sindh province. It is currently the most popular semi-professional football league in Pakistan. The 40,000-capacity Peoples Football Stadium in Karachi is used for some major games. History The Karachi Football League was created by Karachi United and began its inaugural season in 2003–04 as the "All Karachi Clubs League". South Asian Football Federation Gold Cup 2005
The 2005 South Asian Football Federation Cup was the sixth edition of South Asian Football Federation Cup. It was the second time the competition was held in Pakistan. The tournament was played in two cities, Islamabad and Karachi with People's Football Stadium in Karachi hosting group-stages and Jinnah Sports Stadium in Islamabad hosting knock-out rounds and the finals. The tournament started on 7 December and ended on 17 December. India won their fourth title after defeating Bangladesh 2–0 in the finals. Both sides contested the finals in the 1999 edition with India coming out victorious with the same result and Bhaichung Bhutia scored in that finals as well. Ahmed Thariq, Ali Ashfaq and Ibrahim Fazeel of Maldives were the top-scorers of the tournament, all scoring three goals each.
