Paul Wekesa
Paul Wekesa (born 2 July 1967) is a former professional tennis player from Kenya. He won 3 doubles titles, achieved a career-high singles ranking of World No. 100 and reached two tour-level quarterfinals at Auckland in 1989 and Seoul in 1995. Tennis career Prior to turning professional, he won the doubles tournament at the 1987 Division II NCAA Men's Tennis Championships while attending Chapman University. During his career, Wekesa won 3 ATP Tour doubles titles. He reached the quarterfinals in doubles at the 1992 Australian Open. Wekesa won a bronze medal at the 1987 All-Africa Games held in Nairobi, Kenya. Scott Davis (born August 27, 1962) is an American former professional tennis player. He reached a career high singles ranking of world No. 11 (in October 1985) and doubles ranking of world No. 2 (in January 1991). Tennis career A right-handed serve and volleyer, Davis played 14 years on the tour. He won three singles titles – the 1983 Maui, 1985 Tokyo Outdoor, and 1990 Auckland Grand Prix events – and 22 doubles titles. Alexander Mronz (born 7 April 1965) is a former tennis player from Germany, who turned professional in 1987. Mronz played right-handed, and won one doubles title (1988, Schenectady) in his career. Mronz reached his highest individual ranking on the ATP Tour on April 8, 1991, when he became the world No. 73. Mronz is famous for being the opponent of Jeff Tarango in a third round match at 1995 Wimbledon, having already knocked out Sjeng Schalken and Kenneth Carlsen to get to that stage. Mronz was leading by a set and a break, when Tarango was defaulted after losing his temper with the umpire, Bruno Rebeuh, following a couple of code violations. Tarango walked off the court in anger. Tel Aviv Open
The Tel Aviv Open is an ATP World Tour affiliated tennis tournament. It was played from 1978 through 1981 and 1983 through 1996 and was to be resumed in 2014, marking the end of the tournament in St. Petersburg, however, the 2014 edition was cancelled due to security concerns arising from the ongoing war with the neighboring Gaza Strip, the event was scrapped permanently in 2015. On June 21, 2022, it was announced that the tournament would take place in 2022, albeit in a different venue than previous editions. The tournament is held at the Israel Tennis Center in the Tel Aviv District city of Ramat HaSharon, Israel and is played on outdoor hard courts. Noah Wekesa
Noah Mahalang’ang’a Wekesa (born 21 August 1936) is a Kenyan politician. He is affilaited to the Party of National Unity and was elected 1988, 2000, 2002 and in the 2007 Kenyan general election to represent the Kwanza Constituency of the National Assembly of Kenya. He lost the seat to Ferdinand Wanyonyi in March 2013. Wekesa was Assistant Minister at Agriculture and Livestock Development from 1988–1992 and May 2004 as Assistant Minister for Livestock and Fisheries. He was the Minister for Science and Technology from December 2005 to 2007 and also acted as Minister for Education in 2007. He was the Minister for Forestry and Wildlife from 2008–2012. He was educated at Kakamega School and graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery. He was elected to parliament for the first time in 1988.
