Paul Rummo
Paul Rummo (14 July 1909 Kalbu, Kehtna Parish, Harju County – 28 March 1981) was an Estonian poet, playwright and literary critic. 1948–1949, he was the chief editor for the publishing house Ilukirjandus ja Kunst ('Fiction and Art'). Before 1958, he had several posts: including the head of Estonia Theatre. His son is writer Paul-Eerik Rummo. Kehtna Parish ( et, Kehtna vald) is a rural municipality in central Estonia. It is a part of Rapla County. The municipality has a population of 5,182 (as of 1 January 2004) and covers an area of 507.3 km². The population density is 10.2 inhabitants per km². Harju County
Harju County ( et, Harju maakond or ''Harjumaa''), is one of the fifteen counties of Estonia. It is situated in Northern Estonia, on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland, and borders Lääne-Viru County to the east, Järva County to the southeast, Rapla County to the south, and Lääne County to the southwest. Estonia Theatre
Estonia Theatre is an historic building in Tallinn, Estonia, which houses the Estonian National Opera and the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra. The original Jugendstil building was designed by Finnish architects Armas Lindgren and Wivi Lönn. It was built as a national effort with the leadership of Estonia society in 1913 and was opened to the public on 24 August. At the time, it was the largest building in Tallinn. The theatre was heavily damaged in the Soviet air raid on Tallinn on 9 March 1944. It was reconstructed in a classical and Stalinist style, and reopened in 1947.In 1946, it served as the home of the newly created Tallinn Ballet School and was the location of the debut of one of the graduates of the school's first class, Helmi Puur. Paul-Eerik Rummo
Paul-Eerik Rummo (born January 19, 1942) is an Estonian poet, playwright, translator and politician who was the former Estonian Minister of Culture and Education, as well as the former Estonian Minister of Population Affairs. Rummo was born in Tallinn, the son of Estonian writer Paul Rummo. Paul-Eerik studied literature at the University of Tartu, graduating in 1965. Rummo has worked in Estonian theatres. Personal life Paul-Eerik Rummo is married to an actress, poet, author, and translator Viiu Härm. The couple have three daughters. Legacy In October 1980, Rummo was a signatory of the Letter of 40 Intellectuals, a public letter in which forty prominent Estonian intellectuals defended the Estonian language and protested the Russification policies of the Kremlin in Estonia.
