History Churdan got its start in the year 1882, following construction of the railroad through the territory. Greene County Community School District (GCCSD) is a rural public school district headquartered in Jefferson, Iowa. The district is almost entirely in Greene County while small portions are in Boone County. Communities served are Jefferson, Dana, Grand Junction, Rippey and Scranton. It formed on July 1, 2014, as the consolidation of the East Greene and Jefferson–Scranton school districts. The Iowa High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) is the regulating body for male Iowa high school interscholastic athletics and is a full member of the National Federation of State High School Associations. Its female counterpart, the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, (IGHSAU) is an associate member. Iowa is the only state that maintains separate governing bodies for boys' and girls' athletics. The Rolling Valley Conference is a high school athletic conference in west central Iowa. The league began play in the 2013–14 season. Members include five former members of the Western Valley Activities Conference, five former members of the Rolling Hills Conference, and one former member of the West Central Activities Conference. Schools Former schools History Five members of the conference came from the Western Valley Activities Conference, which was formed in 2008 by the merger of the Maple Valley Conference and the Boyer Valley Conference. All five members of the Rolling Valley were members of the Boyer Valley Conference before the merger.
