Pataudi Palace
The Pataudi Palace, also called Ibrahim Kothi, is a palace of the former ruling family Pataudi family in Pataudi town of Gurgaon district (now Gurugram district) in Haryana state of India. Passed from the last ruling nawab, Iftikhar Ali Khan, to his son, the last recognized titular nawab, Mansoor Ali Khan, the palace is currently held by his son Saif Ali Khan, who is the current patriarch of the Pataudi family. After the high-profile wedding between the nawab of Pataudi and the begum of Bhopal, the nawab felt the old family home was not grand enough to house his new bride in the manner she was accustomed. At the request of Iftikhar Ali Khan (1910–52), the 8th Nawab of Pataudi, the building was designed in the style of the colonial-era mansions of Imperial Delhi by Robert Tor Russell (1888–1972) assisted by the Karl Malte von Heinz. Pataudi is a town and one of the 4 sub-divisions of Gurugram district, in the Indian States and territories of India, state of Haryana, within the boundaries of the National Capital Region of India. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi
Nawab Mohammad Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi (also known as Mansur Ali Khan, or M. A. K. Pataudi; 5 January 1941 – 22 September 2011; nicknamed Tiger Pataudi) was an Indian cricketer and a former captain of the Indian cricket team. Pataudi was appointed India's cricket captain at the age of 21, and described as "one of (its) greatest". Pataudi was also called the "best fielder in the world" of his time by commentator John Arlott and former England captain and contemporary, Ted Dexter. Mansur Ali Khan was the son of Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi, the last ruler of the princely state of Pataudi during the British Raj. After the death of his father in 1952, Pataudi succeeded him in receiving a privy purse, certain privileges, and the use of the title "Nawab of Pataudi" under terms accepted earlier when princely states were absorbed into independent India. Pataudi State was a small princely state in India, established in 1804 during the East India Company rule in India. The state formed a part of the Delhi Territory in the Ceded and Conquered Provinces. It was under the suzerainty of the Commissioner of Delhi. It had an area of 52 square miles and included one town, Pataudi, and 40 villages, ruled by the Pataudi family. Karl Malte Von Heinz
Karl Malte von Heinz (1904-1971) was an Austrian architect who designed a number of buildings in India. Career Heinz came to India as a refugee due to the crackdown on the Bahaus movement in Nazi Germany. After coming to India, he assisted Robert Tor Russel in designing the Pataudi Palace in the 1930s. Hyderabad Heinz designed several mansions in Hyderabad, and is regarded as a pioneer of the art deco style in the city. Delhi In the 1940s, he designed several buildings of the Jamia Milia Islamia.
