In linguistics, grammatical gender system is a specific form of noun class system, where nouns are assigned with gender categories that are often not related to their real-world qualities. La Parisienne (fresco)
La Parisienne also known as the Minoan Lady, is part of the Camp Stool Fresco, which was probably painted on the wall of the Sanctuary Hall on the Piano Nobile at the palace of Knossos. The sacral knot worn at the back of the neck seems to indicate that she is a priestess or even a goddess. The archaeological research in Minoan palaces, cemeteries and settlements has brought to light a multitude of objects related to beautification. Edmond Pottier gave her the name as he felt she resembled a contemporary woman from Paris. It seems that there were beautification areas in the palaces of Knossos, Zakros and Pylos. These beauty objects were used during the whole Aegean Bronze Age. By using these objects, the Minoan ladies highlighted the red lips and the white of the face. In the fresco of the Parisienne, the use of the black colour for emphasizing the form of the eyes and red for the lips can clearly be seen. Henry Becque
Henry François Becque (9 April 1837 – 12 May 1899), was a French dramatist. He was born in Paris. Life In 1867, he wrote, in imitation of Lord Byron, the libretto for Victorin de Joncières's opera ''Sardanapale'', but his first important work, ''Michel Pauper'', appeared in 1870. The importance of this sombre drama was first realized when it was revived at the Odéon in 1886. ''Les Corbeaux'' (1882) established Becque's position as an innovator, and in 1885 he produced his most successful play, ''La Parisienne''. Becque produced little during the last years of his life, but his disciples carried on the tradition he had created. His other works include ''Querelles littéraires'' (1890), and ''Souvenirs d'un auteur dramatique'' (1895), consisting chiefly of reprinted articles in which he does not spare his opponents. ''La Parisienne'' ('' en, The Parisian'') is an oil painting by the French artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir, completed in 1874 and now displayed at the National Museum Cardiff. The work, which was one of seven presented by Renoir at the first Impressionist exhibition in 1874, is often referred to as ''The Blue Lady'' ''(french: La Dame en Bleu)'' and is one of the centre-pieces of the National Museum's art collection. "Parisienne Walkways" is a song by guitarist Gary Moore that reached number 8 in the UK Singles Chart in May 1979. The song is featured on Moore's album '' Back on the Streets'' and features a vocal from Thin Lizzy frontman, Phil Lynott, who co-wrote the song with Moore. Lynott also played bass guitar on the track, alongside Thin Lizzy drummer Brian Downey, thus reuniting the short-lived 1974 Thin Lizzy line-up which had recorded " Still in Love with You", "Sitamoia" and the single "Little Darling". The melody of "Parisienne Walkways" is based on the jazz standard "Blue Bossa" by Kenny Dorham. It became Gary Moore's signature song. Robert William Gary Moore (4 April 19526 February 2011) was a Northern Irish musician. Over the course of his career he played in various groups and performed a range of music including blues, blues rock, hard rock, heavy metal, and jazz fusion. Influenced by Peter Green and Eric Clapton, Moore began his career in the late 1960s when he joined Skid Row, with whom he released two albums. Parisienne (''Parisiennes'' in Argentina)- is a Swiss brand of cigarettes, currently owned by British American Tobacco and manufactured in the city of Boncourt to the tune of 6-7 billion sticks per year. History Parisienne was launched in 1887 by François-Joseph Burrus and the first filtered cigarettes were produced in 1947. Rothmans buys the brand and factory in 1996, before merging with British American Tobacco in 1999. Parisienne is one of the most popular cigarette brands in Switzerland. Despite its level of popularity, both domestically and internationally, the brand is sold very rarely outside Switzerland.
