Paolo Damiani
Paolo Damiani (born 1952) is an Italian jazz cellist and double-bassist. Performing primarily avant-garde jazz, he has worked with Gianluigi Trovesi, Kenny Wheeler, Tony Oxley, Paolo Fresu, and John Taylor. Damiani has also recorded on the albums of Deep Forest and Bauhaus. Roberto Gatto is an Italian jazz drummer, born October 6, 1958 in Rome. He has performed with Lee Konitz, Chet Baker, Bob Berg, Tommy Flanagan, Joe Zawinul, and Joe Lovano. He has composed film music, is the leader of his own jazz group and a member of the ensemble of Pino Daniele, a Neapolitan singer. Post-bop is a genre of small-combo jazz that evolved in the early to mid 1960s in the United States. Pioneers of the genre, such as Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, John Coltrane and Jackie McLean, crafted syntheses of hard bop with contemporaneous developments in avant-garde jazz, modal jazz and free jazz that resulted in music with a complex and experimental flavor though still rooted in bop tradition, featuring less of the blues and soul leanings predominant in hard bop. Buon Vecchio Charlie (lit. "Good Old Charlie") was an Italian progressive rock band from Rome, Italy formed in 1970. History The initial five-man lineup of the band included, Luigi Calabrò on vocals and guitar, Sandro Centofanti on keyboards, Walter Bernardi on bass, Rino Sangiorgio on drums, and Carlo Visca playing percussion. Subsequently the band saw the entrance of the singer and guitarist Richard Benson, of the bassist Paolo Damiani and the flutist and saxophonist Sandro Cesaroni, with consequent release of Bernardi and Visca. In 1971 the group recorded what would be its first and last album: the homonymous '' Buon Vecchio Charlie''. The disc was recorded for the small Venetian record label, Suono, but was not released.
