Ōza (shogi)
is one of the eight titles in Japanese professional shogi. The word literally means "king's seat", i.e., "throne". The tournament started in 1953 as a knockout tournament with three games in the final match and was a non-title tournament up until 1982. The challenger for the title is determined through three preliminary rounds. The player that wins three games out of five in the championship match becomes the new Ōza title holder. The tournament is sponsored by Nikkei, Inc. (日本経済新聞社 ''nihon keizai shinbunsha''), a newspaper conglomerate that publishes The Nikkei and the Nikkei 225 stock market index. Lifetime Ōza is the title given to a player who won the championship five times in a row or ten times in total. Ghanshyam Oza
Ghanshyam Chhotalal Oza (25 October 1911 – 12 July 2002) was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, India from 17 March 1972 to 17 July 1973. He had a B.A. and L.L.B. He was a member of the Legislative Assembly of Saurashtra State from 1948 to 1956. He later became a member of the Legislative Assembly of Bombay state in 1956. He was a member of the Lok Sabha from 1957 to 1967 and again from 1971 to 1972. Later, he was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 10 April 1978 to 9 April 1984. He was a member of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly from 1972-74. He was a minister (1952–56) in U. N. Dhebar ministry when 'United State of Kathiawar' was formed. Goverdhan Lal Oza
Goverdhan Lal Jamnalal Oza (born 12 December 1924, date of death unknown), often shortened to G. L. Oza, was an Indian judge, independence activist and Justice of the Supreme Court of India. Early life Oza was born in December 1924 in Ujjain, British India. His father Shri Jamnalalji Oza was a social worker of Ujjain. Oza passed from Government Madhav Arts and Commerce College, Ujjain. In the student life he took active part in student politics and Quit India movement led by Mahatma Gandhi. He joined the agitation against the rulers of the Holkar State for the merger of the State in the Indian Union at the time of Indian Independence.
