Orlando Contreras (singer)
Orlando González Soto, better known as Orlando Contreras (22 May 1930 in Havana, Cuba – 9 February 1994 in Medellín, Colombia), was a Cuban Bolero singer, known by his fans as "La Voz Romántica de Cuba" (Cuba's Romantic Voice). Biography Contreras started singing in a variety of musical groups in Habana, among them the Arty Valdés trio, and from 1957 to 1958 he joined the Neno González Orchestra. In this orchestra he gained some notoriety and recorded songs that gained some success. While in the Neno Orchestra, Contreras also worked in the Conjunto Casino. After this he became a solo singer. He lived in Cuba during the first years of the Cuban Revolution. In 1961 he recorded more songs, placing him among the better known singers. During this time he worked in the Alí Bar alongside Beny Moré, Fernando Álvarez and Orlando Vallejo. He also worked with the Musicuba band and in September 1965, he moved to the United States. Bolero Singers
Bolero is a genre of song which originated in Oriente Province, eastern Cuba in the late 19th century as part of the trova tradition. Unrelated to the older Bolero (Spanish dance), Spanish dance of the same name, bolero is characterized by sophisticated lyrics dealing with love. It has been called the "quintessential Latin American romantic song of the twentieth century". Unlike the simpler, thematically diverse ''canción'', bolero did not stem directly from the European lyrical tradition, which included Italian opera and canzone, popular in urban centers like Havana at the time. Instead, it was born as a form of romantic folk poetry cultivated by a new breed of troubadour from Santiago de Cuba, the ''trovadores''. Liver cancer (also known as hepatic cancer, primary hepatic cancer, or primary hepatic malignancy) is cancer that starts in the liver. Fruko Y Sus Tesos
Fruko y sus Tesos is a salsa group from Colombia that is popular in both Latin America and the United States. It was formed in 1969 by multi-instrumentalist Julio Ernesto Estrada (aka Fruko). Beginning with ''Tesura'' in 1969, the band has recorded 42 albums to date. The band achieved a degree of success after Joe Arroyo was recruited as lead singer in 1973. A Medellin native, Julio Ernesto "Fruko" Estrada Rincón was expelled from school for fighting and began his musical career at the age of 15 as a studio musician for Discos Fuentes record company. Noticed by Lisandro Meza, Estrada was added to Meza's popular group, Los Corraleros de Majagual. Daniel Santos (singer)
Daniel Santos (June 6, 1916 – November 27, 1992) was a Puerto Rican singer and composer of boleros, and an overall performer of multiple Caribbean music genres, including guaracha, plena and rumba. Over the course of his career he adopted several names created by the public and became known as "El Jefe" and "El Inquieto Anacobero". Early years Santos (birth name: Daniel Santos Betancourt) was born and raised with his three sisters, Sara, Rosa Lydia and Luz América in Trastalleres, a poor section of Santurce, Puerto Rico.
