Nynäs Line
The Nynäs Line ( sv, Nynäsbanan) is a long railway line between Älvsjö and Nynäshamn in Sweden. The line is electrified and is double track on the section from Älvsjö to Västerhaninge. The line is used by the Stockholm Commuter Rail and freight trains. At Älvsjö, it connects to the Western Main Line. At Farsta strand there is a connection to Farsta strand metro station, which is a terminus at the Stockholm underground railway. At Nynäshamn there is transfer to the Destination Gotland ferries to the island of Gotland. History Nynäshamn was established as a port during the 1860s, to allow ships to avoid the skerries surrounding Stockholm. Construction of Nynäsbanan was started by the private company ''Stockholm-Nynäs Järnvägs AB'' in 1898 and the line was opened on 28 December 1901. Nynäshamn Station
Nynäshamn is a station on Stockholm's commuter train network, located in Nynäshamn within Nynäshamn Municipality and is the terminus for the Nynäs Line. On a normal winter weekday, the station has about 900 boarders (2015). The station has three tracks, which end with stop buffers. Entrance to the platform is geographically from the north (the track runs in a half loop through the city and ends in the "wrong" direction). The station no longer has an entrance building or ticket hall, but has weather protection on the platform. Nynäshamn is used as a transfer to the Destination Gotland ferries to the island of Gotland. SL X1
X1 was a series of two-car electric multiple units (twin units) operated by Greater Stockholm Transport (SL) on the Stockholm commuter rail. The X1 was operated in sets of up to five units, making ten-car trains, each unit consisting of one motor car and one unpowered car. 104 units were built by ASEA in 1967–75 and were replaced by the new X60. The X1 also served as the foundation for the later X10–X14 series trains, built in the 1980s and 1990s. Swedish State Railways
The Swedish State Railways ( sv, Statens Järnvägar) or SJ, originally the Royal Railway Board ( sv, Kungl. Järnvägsstyrelsen), was the former government agency responsible for operating the state-owned railways in Sweden.
