North Hobart Football Club
The North Hobart Football Club, nicknamed ''The Demons'', is an Australian rules football club which plays in the Tasmanian State League. The club returned to the state league in 2018 after its position was effectively filled by a new club, the Hobart City Football Club after the 2013 season. The club (i.e. North Hobart) was part of the Tasmanian Football League from the early 1900s through to 2001, where the club joined Southern Football League. In 2009, the club was invited into the second reincarnation of the statewide league where it remained until 2013. In 2014, the North Hobart Football Club Inc. changed from an incorporated body to a company limited with 100% ownership of the Hobart City Football Club, with the Hobart City Demons now the trading name of North Hobart Football Club Ltd. Tasmanian Football League
The Tasmanian State League (TSL), colloquially known as the "Tasmanian Football League (TFL)" (formerly known as the "Tasmanian Australian National Football League (TANFL)" and several other short-term names) is the highest ranked Australian rules football league in Tasmania, Australia. Len Pye
Leonard Edward Thomas 'Apples' Pye (21 February 1911 – 20 September 1989) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Fitzroy in the VFL during the 1930s. He also had a notable career in the TANFL with North Hobart which saw him named in Tasmania's official 'Team of the Century', on the interchange bench. Family The son of Charles Pye (1882-1958) and Elsie May Pye, née Burke (1884-1944), Leonard Edward Thomas Pye was born at New Norfolk on 21 February 1911. West Park Oval
West Park Oval is an Australian Rules football, cycling and athletics venue located on the shores of Bass Strait in Burnie, Tasmania. It is the current home of the Burnie Dockers in the Tasmanian State League and previously in the NTFL and in the original TFL Statewide League. History West Park Oval was also home of the former Cooee Football Club (later renamed Burnie Hawks in 1987 and the former Burnie Tigers Football Club in the North West Football Union (NWFU) and later of the NTFL until both clubs amalgamated in early 1994. 1967 Tasmanian State Premiership Final
The 1967 Tasmanian State Premiership Final (colloquially known as the Goalpost Final) was an Australian rules football match played between the Wynyard Cats and the North Hobart Robins on Saturday 30 September 1967 at West Park Oval, Burnie, to decide the winner of the 1967 Tasmanian State Premiership. One of the most controversial games in Australian rules football history, the match was declared ''no result'' and the premiership was withheld after fans invaded the field and eventually took down the goal posts, preventing North Hobart full-forward David Collins from taking a kick after the siren which would likely have won or tied the game for the Robins. North West Football Union
The North West Football Union (NWFU) was an Australian rules football competition which ran from 1910 to 1986. In its time it was one of the three main leagues in Tasmania, with the Tasmanian Football League and Northern Tasmanian Football Association representing the rest of the state. Burnie, Latrobe and Ulverstone were the most successful clubs with 12 premierships each. The league disbanded after the 1986 season after major clubs such as Cooee and Devonport defected to the TFL Statewide League. In 1987 the NWFU effectively merged with the Northern Tasmanian Football Association (NTFA) to form the Northern Tasmanian Football League, which exists today as the North West Football League. Dinny Kelleher
Denis "Dinny" Kelleher (22 July 1902 – 30 May 1963) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Carlton and South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Early life Born in the small rural town of Baddaginnie in 1902. He apparently captained his school's football team, then went on to play with Baddaginnie in the Euroa District Football Association in 1919, 1920 and 1921. Kelleher then played with Benalla in the Ovens and Murray Football League in 1922 and 1923, gaining selection in the OMFL team against the VFL in 1923. He stood out of football in 1924 as Benalla refused to clear him to Wangaratta. Standing out of football for a year gave him an automatic clearance. At Wangaratta he played as the team's centre half-forward in their 1925 Ovens and Murray Football League premiership and 1926 Ovens and Murray Football League grand final loss to St. Patrick's. The Clarence Football Club, nicknamed ''The Kangaroos'' (and usually referred to as simply "The Roos"), is an Australian rules football club playing in the Tasmanian State League, based in Bellerive, Tasmania. Brett Alexander "Moose" Stephens (born 20 February 1961) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Fitzroy Football Club in the Victorian and Australian Football Leagues (VFL and AFL) and currently a performance coach for world class athletes, working with pro tennis players, golfers and surfers. Noel Arthur Clarke (26 December 1930 – 7 August 2022) was an Australian rules footballer who played in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and in Tasmania. Career begins in Tasmania Clarke signed with North Launceston at the start of the 1949 season, won the club's best first-year player award, and was among the better players on Grand Final day when North won the NTFA premiership. He was a star player the next season too when North Launceston won the State Premiership as well as another NTFA title.
