The Northern Ireland Bureau (NI Bureau) The Northern Ireland Bureau (NI Bureau) is a diplomatic mission of the Northern Ireland Executive. It works to promote economic prosperity, cultural development and international growth and engagement between Northern Ireland and foreign countries. There are two bureaus for China and for the United States and Canada. The Chinese bureau was set up on 2014 and is based in Beijing. The North American bureau is based in Washington DC, US and the senior staff are Civil Servants of the United Kingdom in Northern Ireland. Northern Ireland Executive
The Northern Ireland Executive is the devolved government of Northern Ireland, an administrative branch of the legislature – the Northern Ireland Assembly. It is answerable to the assembly and was initially established according to the terms of the Northern Ireland Act 1998, which followed the Good Friday Agreement (or Belfast Agreement). The executive is referred to in the legislation as the Executive Committee of the assembly and is an example of consociationalist ("power-sharing") government. The Northern Ireland Executive consists of the First Minister and deputy First Minister and various ministers with individual portfolios and remits. The Executive Office is a devolved Northern Ireland government department in the Northern Ireland Executive with overall responsibility for the running of the Executive. The ministers with overall responsibility for the department are the First Minister and deputy First Minister. The department was originally known as the Office of the First Minister and Deputy First Minister, with the same capitalisation used in the department's logo.
