Norbert Fruvall
Norbert Andrew Fruvall was an Indian footballer. In the 1940s, Fruvall was the captain and the coach of Hyderabad City Police that was one of the strongest football teams in India. He recruited players like Noor Muhammad, Moinuddin and G. Y. S. Laiq. The Police won the Ashe Gold Cup in Bangalore in 1943 defeating Royal Air Force 2–1, with Fruvall scoring both goals. When the Durand Cup was resumed after war in 1950, they won it in the first year. Fruvall was selected to play for India in the 1948 Olympics but could not make it. He retired from football in 1951. He captained Hyderabad in their first appearance in Santosh Trophy in 1944. His son Conrad Fruvall was a cricketer. Hyderabad City Police FC, also known as City Afghans, were the most famous team in the Hyderabad Football Association. They were associated with the Hyderabad City Police during the reign of the Nizam of Hyderabad. The club was one of power houses of Indian football, praised for producing some of country's legendary players like Sayed Khwaja Aziz-ud-Din, Muhammad Noor, Syed Nayeemuddin, and Anthony Patrick, and Syed Shahid Hakim. In the 1950s, the club achieved success with their 2–3–5 formation. Muhammad Noor
Muhammad Noor (1925 – 9 June 2000) was an Indian footballer. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1956 Summer Olympics. Playing career In club football, Noor appeared with Hyderabad City Police FC, then one of the strongest sides in Indian football. He later represented India national team, managed by Syed Abdul Rahim. Sayed Moinuddin
Syed Khwaja Moinuddin (1924 – 1 October 1978), usually called Moin, was an Indian footballer. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1952 Summer Olympics. Playing career "Moin" was coached in the youth by Syed Abdul Rahim. He represented Hyderabad Eleven Hunters and Student Athletic Club, and Hyderabad Police. He served in the Police for 36 years, retiring as Inspector in 1977 and having played until 1963. He could not take part in the 1948 Olympics due to the absence of a sponsor but played in the 1952 Olympics under Sailen Manna and in the 1954 Asian Games. He captained India at home against Sweden in 1954 and Russia in 1955. 1944–45 Santosh Trophy
The 1944–45 Santosh Trophy was the second edition of the Santosh Trophy, the main State competition for football in India. It was resumed in 1944 after a break of two years. Delhi defeated the defending champions Bengal in the final. Like the previous tournament, the regional matches were played across India. Preliminary Matches Raman scored the winning goal in the extra time. This was the South Zone final and Mysore qualified to meet Bengal in the national semifinal. The match was attended by a crowd of twenty thousand. Semi-final According to the original schedule, the Mysore-Bengal semifinal was scheduled to be held in Calcutta on November 16 and final at Delhi on September 21. The Moin-ud-Dowlah Gold Cup Tournament is an Indian cricket competition that has been held in Hyderabad (and sometimes nearby Secunderabad) since 1930-31. From 1930-31 to 1937-38, and from 1962-63 to 1973-74, it had first-class status. 1930-31 to 1937-38 In 1930 the Nawab Moin-Ud-Dowlah Bahadur Asman Jah donated a trophy to be played for each year by a team representing Hyderabad and various invitational teams.
