Newlands East is a township located 17 km north-west of Durban in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Geography Newlands East is bordered by Newlands West to the west and south, Durban North to the east and KwaMashu to the north The main access roads in and around Newlands East is the N2 highway, M45 Queen Nandi Drive, M5 Dumisani Makhaye Drive and M21 Inanda Road. The M45 Queen Nandi Drive is the main thoroughfare to Newlands East and connects to KwaMashu and Briardene. Port Shepstone
Port Shepstone is a large town situated on the mouth of the Mzimkhulu River, the largest river on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast of South Africa. It is located halfway between Hibberdene and Margate and is positioned 120 km south of Durban. It is the administrative, educational and commercial centre for southern Natal. History Port Shepstone was founded in 1867 when marble was discovered near the Mzimkhulu River mouth and is named after Sir Theophilus Shepstone of the Natal government of the 1880s. William Bazley built a harbour, and the first coaster entered the harbour on May 8, 1880. In 1882 a party of 246 Norwegian immigrants settled in the town and subsequently started to play a major role in the development of the area. KwaDukuza
KwaDukuza is a municipality in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. In 2006, the municipal name was changed to KwaDukuza (which incorporates small towns such as Stanger, Balito, Shaka's Kraal, but the Zulu people in the area called it "Dukuza" well before then. The city has been under major economical construction since 2015, having built a multi-million rand regional shopping mall in 2018. History The city was founded about 1820 by King Shaka and was named KwaDukuza ( zu, Place of the Lost Person) because of the capital's labyrinth of huts. The M21 is a metropolitan route in the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, South Africa linking Durban with Phoenix via Newlands West and KwaMashu. Route The M21 officially starts at the M25 interchange between Phoenix and KwaMashu as ''Malendela Road''. The M5 is a long metropolitan route in the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality, South Africa. It starts in KwaMashu in the north-western townships of Durban. It passes through the townships of KwaMashu, Newlands East, Newlands West, Ntuzuma and KwaDabeka. It then passes through the industrial town of New Germany and the leafy towns of Pinetown and Queensburgh before entering Durban and ending with the R102 in the Umbilo industrial area.
