Nearer Than Heaven
''Get Tragic'' is the fifth studio album by British band Blood Red Shoes. It was released in January 2019 under Jazz Life Records. Background and composition After the release of the band's fourth self-titled album, the members were considering a hiatus. During this period, singer Laura-Mary Carter moved to the US and collaborated with Natalie Chahal and together with drummer Jorma Vik they founded a one-off band Shit Girlfriend. They released one single, "Mummy's Boy / I Don't Want To Die", on 22 April 2017. During her stay in the US, Carter suffered a broken arm in a motorcycle accident. Because of the injury, her songwriting became more vocal-oriented and she started using keyboard instruments more often. Drummer Steven Ansell commented on this period: " went out and took drugs and went clubbing for about half a year. I don’t remember a lot about it. Blood Red Shoes are an English alternative rock duo from Brighton consisting of Laura-Mary Carter and Steven Ansell. They have released six full-length albums, '' Box of Secrets'' (2008), '' Fire Like This'' (2010), '' In Time to Voices'' (2012), ''Blood Red Shoes'' (2014), ''Get Tragic'' (2019) and '' Ghosts On Tape'' (2022) as well as several EPs and a number of singles. Overview Formation Blood Red Shoes formed in late 2004, after Steven Ansell and Laura-Mary Carter's previous bands (Cat on Form and Lady Muck respectively) broke up and they decided to "have a jam". In an interview in Berlin, Carter explained that the band's name was taken from a Ginger Rogers/Fred Astaire musical, in which Rogers had turned a pair of white dancing shoes red with blood due to the amount of dancing she had done practising for the role. Blood Red Shoes (album)
''Blood Red Shoes'' is the fourth album by Brighton-based rock band Blood Red Shoes, released on 3 March 2014 in the UK and Europe through Jazz Life Records. The album was recorded over a 6-month period in Berlin and was entirely self-produced and engineered by the band themselves. The first song from the album, "The Perfect Mess", was released on 1 December 2013, after 10 QR codes were found in different cities by the band's fans. Recording After releasing the ''Water EP'' in January 2013 (the first new Blood Red Shoes material since their third album '' In Time to Voices''), the band moved to Berlin for six months to write and record the new album. Entirely self-produced, it is the first Blood Red Shoes album to not be a co-production with usual collaborator Mike Crossey. Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted arithmetic mean, weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999. The site provides an excerpt from each review and hyperlinks to its source. A color of green, yellow or red summarizes the critics' recommendations. It is regarded as the foremost online review aggregation site for the video game industry. Metacritic's scoring converts each review into a percentage, either mathematically from the mark given, or what the site decides subjectively from a qualitative review. In statistics and applications of statistics, normalization can have a range of meanings. In the simplest cases, normalization of ratings means adjusting values measured on different scales to a notionally common scale, often prior to averaging.
