Naveen Daries
Naveen Natascha Daries (born 29 October 2001) is a South African artistic gymnast who represented her country at the 2017, 2018 and 2019 World Championships, as well as the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She took the bronze medal in the all-around at the 2021 African Championships, earning a continental berth to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Early life Daries took up gymnastics while in kindergarten after seeing a gymnastics competition on television. Her younger sister Zelmé is also an elite gymnast. Daries was born blind in one eye. Career Junior In June 2015, Daries became the junior South African all-around champion, taking the gold on vault and the bronze on bars, beam and floor exercise. Later that year, Daries competed at the Top Gym Tournament in Belgium, placing 14th all-around. Gymnastics Floor
In gymnastics, the floor is a specially prepared exercise surface, which is considered an apparatus. It is used by both male and female gymnasts. The gymnastics event performed on the floor is called floor exercise. The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is FX. A spring floor is used in all of gymnastics to provide more bounce, and also help prevent potential injuries to lower extremity joints of gymnasts due to the nature of the apparatus, which includes the repeated pounding required to train it. Gymnastics Balance Beam
The balance beam is a rectangular artistic gymnastics apparatus and an event performed using the apparatus. Both the apparatus and the event are sometimes simply referred to as "beam". The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is BB. The beam is a small, thin beam which is typically raised from the floor on a leg or stand at both ends. The uneven bars or asymmetric bars is an artistic gymnastics apparatus. It is made of a steel frame. The bars are made of fiberglass with wood coating, or less commonly wood. The English abbreviation for the event in gymnastics scoring is UB or AB, and the apparatus and event are often referred to simply as "bars". The bars are placed at different heights and widths, allowing the gymnast to transition from bar to bar. A gymnast usually adds white chalk to the hands so that they can grip the bar better. The vault is an artistic gymnastics apparatus which gymnasts perform on, as well as the skill performed using that apparatus. Vaulting is also the action of performing a vault. Zeina Ibrahim Sharaf ( ar, زينة ابراهيم•شرف, born 20 June 2003) is an Egyptian artistic gymnast. She is the 2019 African Games team and uneven bars champion and the 2021 African all-around champion. She is also the 2022 African team and balance beam champion. She represented Egypt at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games and the 2020 Olympic Games. Personal life Ibrahim was born in Alexandria in 2003. She speaks both Arabic and English.
