Nanhua District
Nanhua District () is a rural district of about 8,209 residents in Tainan, Taiwan. It has two reservoirs, the larger one being the Nanhua Reservoir. It is the largest district in the city. History After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, Nanhua was organized as a rural township of Tainan County. On 25 December 2010, when Tainan County merged with Tainan City, Nanhua became a district of Tainan City. Administrative divisions The district consists of Nanhua, Xiaolun, Zongken, Beiping, Donghe, Xipu, Beiliao, Yushan and Guanshan Village. District (Taiwan)
Districts are administrative subdivisions of the Taiwan, Republic of China (Taiwan)'s special municipality (Taiwan), special municipalities of the second level and provincial city (Taiwan), provincial cities of the third level formerly under its Provinces of China, provinces. There are two types of district in the administrative scheme. Ordinary districts are governed directly by the municipality/city government with district administrators appointed by the mayors to four-year terms. Tainan (), officially Tainan City, is a Special municipality (Taiwan), special municipality in southern Taiwan facing the Taiwan Strait on its western coast. Reservoir
A reservoir (; from French ''réservoir'' ) is an enlarged lake behind a dam. Such a dam may be either artificial, built to store fresh water or it may be a natural formation. Nanhua Dam
Nanhua Dam (), originally named Houjie Dam (), is a dam across the Houku River, a tributary of the Zengwen River in southern Taiwan. Located at Nanhua District, Tainan, the dam was built to provide municipal water to Tainan and Kaohsiung City and is operated by the Taiwan Water Corporation. Construction work started in December 1988, and impoundment of the reservoir began in July 1993. A conduit to supply water from the reservoir to Kaohsiung was completed in October 1993 and the entire project was operational in March 1994. The curved earthfill dam is high and long, impounding a reservoir with a capacity of and an active or useful capacity of . The reservoir naturally receives water from a catchment of , which is not enough to fill it alone. Most of the water is actually diverted through a tunnel from the Qishan River to the east, adding to the drainage area. Township (Taiwan)
Townships are the third-level administrative subdivisions of counties of the Republic of China (Taiwan), along with county-administered cities. After World War II, the townships were established from the following conversions on the Japanese administrative divisions: Although local laws do not enforce strict standards for classifying them, generally urban townships have a larger population and more business and industry than rural townships, but not to the extent of county-administered cities. Under townships, there is still the village as the fourth or basic level of administration. Tainan County
Tainan County was a county in southern Taiwan between 1945 and 2010. The county seat was in Sinying City. History Tainan County was established on 7 January 1946 on the territory of Tainan Prefecture () shortly after the end of World War II. In the early years, Tainan County consists of most territory of Tainan Prefecture except the territory near cities of Tainan and Kagi (Chiayi). The county is subdivide into districts (), which is reformed from Japanese districts (). The districts are divided into townships. On 16 August 1950, another division reform was implemented. The northern part of the county was separated and established Chiayi County and Yunlin County. Special municipality, historically known as Yuan-controlled municipality is a first-level administrative division unit in the Republic of China (Taiwan). Under the administrative structure of Taiwan, it is the highest level of division in Taiwan and is equivalent to a province. The Baoguang Temple () is located in Xindu district 18 km north of Chengdu, Sichuan province, China. It was founded during the Tang dynasty. The temple is listed as an architecture of national heritage and major conservation. It is situated on a land of 100,000 square meters. There are more than 400 large stone pillars.
