Montreal Junior Lacrosse League
The Montreal Junior Lacrosse League (MJLL) is a Junior B box lacrosse league. The teams are located in Quebec and one in Vermont. The league was formed in 2014 to help fill a void of junior lacrosse in the area. History Four teams competed in the inaugural 2014 season, which began in late May. The Vermont Jr. Voyageurs (6-0) finished undefeated in the regular season to earn a playoff bye into the championship series. Second-seed Montreal Shamrocks (4-2) defeated Kanehsatake (2-4) in two-straight games (12-1, 13–3) to advance. In the best-of 3 final, Vermont won Game 1 at home 11–7. Game 2 was played in Montreal, with the Jr. Voyageurs clinching the first-ever MJLL title with an 11–6 victory. Box lacrosse, also known as boxla, box, or indoor lacrosse, is an indoor version of lacrosse played mostly in North America. The game originated in Canada in the 1930s, where it is more popular than field lacrosse. Lacrosse is Canada's official national summer sport. Box lacrosse is played between two teams of five players and one goalie each, and is traditionally played on an ice hockey rink once the ice has been removed or covered. The playing area is called a box, in contrast to the open playing field of field lacrosse. The object of the game is to use a lacrosse stick to catch, carry, and pass the ball in an effort to score by shooting a solid rubber lacrosse ball into the opponent's goal. The highest level of box lacrosse is the National Lacrosse League. While there are 62 total members of World Lacrosse, only fifteen have competed in international box lacrosse competition. First Nations Junior B Lacrosse League
The First Nations Junior B Lacrosse League (formerly Iroquois Nations Junior B Lacrosse League) is a box lacrosse league sanctioned by the First Nations Lacrosse Association. The league was formed in 2014 with the restructuring of the Canadian Lacrosse Association. Four teams competed in the inaugural season. The league winner earns a spot in the Founders' Cup, the national championship of Junior B lacrosse in North America. History The first game in INJBLL history was contested between Tonawanda and Seneca on May 24, 2014 at Cattaraugus Community Center. Seneca won the game 27-4. Brandon Brooks (7 goals, 6 assists) was named Player of the Game. The WarChiefs finished a perfect 12-0 regular season and went on to win the playoff title over Onondaga 3-1 (best-of 5 series). Lachute () is a town in southwest Quebec, Canada, northwest of Montreal, on the Rivière du Nord, a tributary of the Ottawa River, and west of Mirabel International Airport. Essex Junction is a city in Chittenden County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 U.S. census, the population was 10,590. It was incorporated as a village on November 15, 1892. Essex Junction became Vermont’s 10th city on July 1, 2022.
