Merlin (metal Band)
Merlin is a death metal band from Russia, formed in 1992 in part by bassist and female growling vocalist Mary Abaza. History Merlin was formed in 1992 by influential female vocalist and bassist ''Mary Abaza'' and renowned Russian guitarist ''Alex Ioffe''. After a long search, they met drummer ''Nick Byckoff''. Before Merlin, all three played in various styles from hard rock to thrash. The trio wanted a name that was original for a death metal band and easy to rememberer for fans, settling on "Merlin" as a symbol of magical power and majesty. Merlin is best known as the warlock featured in Arthurian legends and the musicians' revered his portrayal in the Stephen King book "The Dark Tower". A merlin is also a predatory bird that tears meat with its claws, a gory image the band reflects in its aesthetic. Black Metal
Black metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. Common traits include fast tempos, a shrieking vocal style, heavily distorted guitars played with tremolo picking, raw (lo-fi) recording, unconventional song structures, and an emphasis on atmosphere. ''Alexander Nevsky'' (''russian: Александр Невский'') is the score composed by Sergei Prokofiev for Sergei Eisenstein's 1938 film ''Alexander Nevsky''. The subject of the film is the 13th century incursion of the knights of the Livonian Order into the territory of the Novgorod Republic, their capture of the city of Pskov, the summoning of Prince Alexander Nevsky to the defense of Rus', and his subsequent victory over the crusaders in 1242. The majority of the score's song texts were written by the poet Vladimir Lugovskoy. ''Alexander Nevsky'' (russian: Алекса́ндр Не́вский) is a 1938 Soviet historical drama film directed by Sergei Eisenstein. It depicts the attempted invasion of Novgorod in the 13th century by the Teutonic Knights of the Holy Roman Empire and their defeat by Prince Alexander, known popularly as Alexander Nevsky (1220–1263). Erik Rutan
Erik Rutan (born June 10, 1971) is an American heavy metal musician and producer from New Jersey. He is the guitarist and lead vocalist of death metal band Hate Eternal and lead guitarist for Cannibal Corpse, who he fully joined in 2021 after acting as a fill-in guitarist during their 2019 tour. Rutan has also spent time with Morbid Angel (three different stints) and Ripping Corpse. When not performing, Rutan operates his own recording studio in Florida called Mana Recording Studios. Recording Rutan started his metal career with Ripping Corpse, recording one album titled ''Dreaming with the Dead'' released in 1991.
