Sweden was represented by One More Time with the song "Den vilda" in the Eurovision Song Contest 1996. At the contest, held in Oslo, Norway, One More Time performed last of 23, following Slovakia. At the close of the voting it had received 100 points, placing 3rd behind winner Ireland and runner-up Norway. Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1996 Melodifestivalen 1996 was the selection for the 36th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 35th time that this system of picking a song had been used. 1,323 songs were submitted to SVT for the competition. The final was held in the Victoriahallen in Stockholm on 24 February 1996, presented by Pontus Gårdinger and Siw Malmkvist and was broadcast on SVT1 and Sveriges Radio's P3 and P4 networks. The show was watched by 3,775,000 people. 10 songs competed in total; after these 10 songs were whittled down to 5, 11 regional juries gave points to decide the winner. One More Time (band)
One More Time is a Swedish pop group, formed in 1991. Its members are Peter Grönvall, his wife Nanne Grönvall and Maria Rådsten. A fourth member, Thérèse Löf, left the group shortly after the first album was released. In 1992, they began their international career with the release of the single "Highland", which peaked at No. 1 in Belgium, No. 2 in Sweden, and the top 80 in several countries in Europe, such as the Netherlands, UK and Germany. The ''Highland'' album, on which the single was featured, went gold in South Africa. Their second self-titled album, which followed in 1994, was not as successful as the previous album. But the third album, their first in Swedish, was a successful reentry to the Swedish charts in 1996. They also released an English version of the album. Sveriges Radio P3
P3 (''Sveriges Radio P3'' or ''pe tre'') is a mainstream CHR-formatted station operated by Sweden's national publicly funded radio broadcasting organization Sveriges Radio. The P in P3 originally stood for Program (''Programme'') but today has no official meaning and is simply a name. P3 was officially similar and related to BBC Radio 1. P3 is broadcast nationwide on FM (also digitally via DAB in Stockholm, Gothenburg, Malmö, and Luleå) as well as being streamed on the internet. Henrik Åberg
Henrik Åberg (born 1976), is a Swedish singer who won TV4 (Sweden), TV4's ''Sikta mot stjärnorna'' in 1995, imitating Elvis Presley performing the song "Blue Hawaii (song), Blue Hawaii", and scoring chart successes in Sweden. He also represented Sweden in the European final of ''European Soundmix Show'', on 13 April 1996 in Amsterdam, performing ''Love Me Tender (song), Love Me Tender''. At Melodifestivalen 1996 he participated with the song ''Du är alltid en del utav mej'' written by Lasse Berghagen and Lasse Holm. "Juliette & Jonathan" is a 1996 Swedish language pop song that Lotta Engberg sang when she competed in the Swedish Melodifestivalen 1996, and finished 3rd. Anna Charlotte "Lotta" Engberg (born Pedersen; 5 March 1963) is a Swedish singer. She represented Sweden in Eurovision Song Contest 1987 with " Boogaloo" after winning Melodifestivalen 1987.
