Marco Mendicino
Marco Mendicino (; born July 28, 1973) is a Canadian politician who has been the Minister of Public Safety since October 26, 2021. A member of the Liberal Party, Mendicino represents Eglinton—Lawrence in the House of Commons, sitting as a member of Parliament (MP) since 2015. He was the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship from 2019 to 2021. Early life Mendicino was born to Italian immigrant parents. He studied political science at Carleton University, before attending law school at the University of Windsor. Later in his career he also studied human resources management at York University's Schulich School of Business. As Crown counsel Mendicino worked as a federal prosecutor for ten years, during which time he was involved in the handling of the Toronto 18 terrorism case. Eglinton—Lawrence is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 1979. It covers a portion of Toronto northwest of downtown. It stretches from Yonge Street in the east to Caledonia in the west and from Highway 401 in the north to Eglinton Avenue in the south. Lawrence Avenue runs through the centre of the riding. The Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC; french: Service des poursuites pénales du Canada (SPPC)) was established on December 12, 2006 by the ''Director of Public Prosecutions Act''.
