The Movimiento Construye (MC25), also known simply as Construye, is an Ecuadorian political party founded in 2004. It was originally founded under the name Ruptura 25 (R25). The party joined an alliance with the Democratic Left in 2016.''El Telégrafo''. A big tent party, or catch-all party, is a term used in reference to a political party's policy of permitting or encouraging a broad spectrum of views among its members. Andrea González Náder
Andrea González Náder (born 1 April 1987) is an Ecuadorian environmental activist, entrepreneur and political figure who is currently running for President of Ecuador in the 2025 general election. She ran for vice-president in the 2023 Ecuadorian election. Biography Born in Guayaquil, González holds an Engineering Degree in Environmental Technology from Universidad Del Pacífico. After graduating, she founded and led several environmental organizations. Political career In 2018 González ran for the vice prefecture of Guayas for the Popular Unity party and, in 2020, she ran for a seat in the National Assembly; both bids were unsuccessful. 2021 Ecuadorian General Election
General elections were held in Ecuador on 7 February 2021, established by the National Electoral Council (CNE) as the date for the first round of the presidential election and a vote on mining in Cuenca. Incumbent president Lenín Moreno, who had held the office since his victory over Guillermo Lasso in 2017, did not seek reelection. Although delaying the election due to the COVID-19 pandemic was discussed, the CNE announced on 15 December 2020 that the electoral calendar would not shift and confirmed elections would take place in February 2021. In first round results, Andrés Arauz had a significant but not large enough lead to avoid a runoff with Lasso, who had narrowly beaten third-place finisher Yaku Pérez. 2017 Ecuadorian General Election
General elections were held in Ecuador on 19 February 2017 alongside a referendum on tax havens. Voters elected a new President and National Assembly. Incumbent President Rafael Correa of the PAIS Alliance was not eligible for re-election, having served two terms. In the first round of the presidential elections, PAIS Alliance candidate Lenín Moreno received 39% of the vote. Although he was more than 10% ahead of his nearest rival, Guillermo Lasso of the Creating Opportunities party, Moreno was just short of the 40% threshold required to avoid a run-off. Paco Moncayo
Paco Rosendo Moncayo Gallegos (born October 8, 1940, in Quito) is an Ecuadorian politician and retired general who was Metropolitan Mayor of Quito from 2000 to 2009. Career During his military career, he was the Commander in Chief of the Army in the Alto Cenepa War between Ecuador and Perú. He served as a National Deputy from 1998 to 2000 and was a member of both the National Security Council and its Consultative Assembly for Foreign Affairs. In 2000 Paco Moncayo was elected Metropolitan Mayor of Quito on behalf of the Party of the Democratic Left, and he was re-elected for a second term in 2004. He was co-president of United Cities and Local Governments as of November 2007 and was longlisted for the 2008 World Mayor award. 2013 Ecuadorian General Election
General elections were held in Ecuador on 17 February 2013 to elect the President, the National Assembly, Provincial Assemblies and members of the Andean Parliament. The incumbent President Rafael Correa was re-elected by a wide margin. Correa's closest electoral rival, Guillermo Lasso, conceded the election shortly after it concluded. The vote had been set for January 2013, but was put back a month to allow a full year to elapse after the reform of election rules. Christian Gustavo Zurita Ron (born 4 April 1970) is an Ecuadorian journalist and politician who was a candidate for president of Ecuador in the 2023 general election. On 9 August 2023, eleven days before the 2023 Ecuadorian general election, presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio was assassinated after leaving a campaign rally in Quito, the capital of Ecuador.
