Andrea González Náder
Andrea González Náder (born 1 April 1987) is an Ecuadorian environmental activist, entrepreneur and political figure who is currently running for President of Ecuador in the 2025 general election. She ran for vice-president in the 2023 Ecuadorian election. Biography Born in Guayaquil, González holds an Engineering Degree in Environmental Technology from Universidad Del Pacífico. After graduating, she founded and led several environmental organizations. Political career In 2018 González ran for the vice prefecture of Guayas for the Popular Unity party and, in 2020, she ran for a seat in the National Assembly; both bids were unsuccessful. In 2023, Fernando Villavicencio, the presidential candidate for that year's general election of the political party Movimiento Construye (MC-25), named her his vice-presidential running mate. The president of Ecuador ( es, Presidente del Ecuador), officially called the Constitutional President of the Republic of Ecuador ( es, Presidente Constitucional de la República del Ecuador), serves as both the head of state and head of government of Ecuador. 2025 Ecuadorian General Election
General elections are scheduled to be held in Ecuador on 9 February 2025. If necessary, a second round will be held on 13 April 2025. Incumbent President Daniel Noboa is running for re-election, having been elected in the 2023 Ecuadorian general election, 2023 general election. Background In 2024, the country faced a 2024 conflict in Ecuador, military and security conflict when Los Choneros leader José Adolfo Macías Villamar escaped from prison in the city of Guayaquil, on the day of his scheduled transfer to a maximum-security prison. The events were reported the next day by authorities, with charges being filed against two prison guards. Following the escape, Noboa declared a state of emergency, to last for 60 days.
