Miss Universe Malaysia 1965
Miss Malaysia 1965, the 2nd edition of the Miss Universe Malaysia, was held on 12 June 1965 at the Merdeka Stadium, Kuala Lumpur. Patricia Augustus of Penang was crowned by the outgoing titleholder, Angela Filmer of Selangor at the end of the event. She then represented Malaysia at the Miss Universe 1965 pageant in Miami, Florida. Merdeka Stadium
The Stadium Merdeka (also known as Merdeka Stadium/; English: Independence Stadium) is a stadium based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It is known as the site of the formal declaration of independence of the Federation of Malaya on 31 August 1957. The stadium is also the site of the proclamation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963. Currently owned by Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), the stadium has a lower and an upper terrace, with a total capacity of 40,000, as well as 14 tunnels entrance, a covered stand, 50 turnstiles and 4 floodlight tower. The stadium was designed by American architect Stanley Jewkes, under the instruction of the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tunku Abdul Rahman. Upon its completion, the stadium holds the world record for the tallest prestressed floodlight towers and the biggest cantilever shell roofs. Miss World 1965, the 15th edition of the Miss World pageant, was held on 19 November 1965 at the Lyceum Ballroom in London, UK. The winner was Lesley Langley of the United Kingdom. She was crowned by Miss World 1964, Ann Sidney of United Kingdom. The UK became the second country to win the contest two years in succession. The first country to achieve this was Sweden when winning in 1951 and 1952. Miss World Malaysia
Miss World Malaysia is a national beauty pageant and an organization based in Malaysia. The winner will represents the country at Miss World. On occasion, when the winner does not qualify (due to age or any other reason), a runner-up is sent. The reigning Miss World Malaysia is Wenanita Angang of Sabah. It is Sabah's first victory in 7 years, and the fifth victory of the state in the pageant's history. She will represent her country at Miss World 2023.
