Miss Grand South Africa 2022
Miss Grand South Africa 2022 was the seventh edition of the Miss Grand South Africa beauty pageant, held on July 9, 2022, at the Boesies hall, Lake Umuzi Waterfront, Secunda. Thirty-eight candidates, who qualified for the national pageant via either an online screening performed or regional workshops performed earlier from February to April, competed for the title, and a 22-year-old fashion media student from Pretoria, Lu Juan Mzyk, was elected the winner, while the Johannesburg representative, Bianca Ramalho, and the Gauteng representative, Sphilangomusa Khwezi Msweli, were named the first and second runners-up, respectively. Lu Juan then represented the country at the Miss Grand International 2022 pageant held in Indonesia on October 25, but was unplaced. Secunda, South Africa
Secunda (from Latin: second, secund, secundi meaning second/following) is a town built amidst the coalfields of the Mpumalanga province of South Africa. It was named for being the second Sasol extraction refinery producing oil from coal, after Sasolburg, some to the west. History Early history During 1974, Sasol (Transvaal) Townships Limited, a subsidiary company of Sasol Limited, was instructed to establish and develop Secunda. After the site for the Sasol complex had been identified, it had to be decided whether or not to combine the existing towns of Evander and Trichardt. The huge burden that extensions of this nature would have had on the financial and administrative resources of the established communities as well as the tempo at which such development should proceed was decisive and resulted in the decision to develop Trichardt and Secunda to be one town, named Secunda. Miss Grand South Africa 2023 was the eighth edition of the Miss Grand South Africa beauty pageant, held on July 22, 2023, at the Atterbury Theatre in South Africa's capital, Pretoria. Twenty-five candidates who qualified for the national pageant through the virtual casting competed for the title, and a 19-year-old former Miss Teen World from Johannesburg, Gugulethu Mayisela, was elected the winner. She was crowned by Miss Grand South Africa 2022, Lu Juan Mzyk, and obtain the right to represent the country at the Miss Grand International 2023 pageant, which is scheduled to be in Vietnam on October 25. The grand final of the pageant was hosted by a Pretoria-based model, Tumelo Matela, and former Mister Global South Africa, Ruan Scheepers. Miss Grand International 2022 was the 10th-anniversary edition of the Miss Grand International pageant, held on 25 October 2022 at Sentul International Convention Center in Bogor Regency of West Java province, Indonesia. The pageant featured contestants from sixty-eight countries and territories, of which, the Brazilian representative, Isabella Menin, was named the winner and crowned by Miss Grand International 2021 Nguyễn Thúc Thùy Tiên of Vietnam. The pageant's grand final round was hosted by Thai television personality Matthew Deane, and highlighted by the live performance of an Indonesian singer, Rossa.
