Mirjam Tally
Mirjam Tally (born 28 November 1976 in Tallinn) is an Estonian composer. In 2003 she graduated from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. In 1998-2004 she was a freelance program host in the classical music channel Klassikaraadio. 2003-2006 she was an editor for music magazine ''Muusika''. Since 2006 she lives in Visby, Sweden. Since 2000, she is a member of Estonian Composers' Union. Since 2007 she is a member of Swedish Society of Composers. Tallinn () is the most populous and capital city of Estonia. Estonian Academy Of Music And Theatre
The Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (''Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia'') began as a mixed choir of the Estonia Society Musical Department (EMD) on the eve of World War I. The assembly of the Estonia Society created the Tallinn Higher Music School on November 17, 1918. The opening ceremony took place on September 28, 1919. In 1923 the educational institution was renamed the Tallinn Conservatoire. In 1938 the State Drama School was opened. In 1993 the school was renamed the “Estonian Academy of Music”. In 1995 the Drama Faculty was renamed the Higher Theatre School. Klassikaraadio
Klassikaraadio ('Radio of Classics') is an Estonian radio program/station which is managed by Estonian Public Broadcasting (formerly Estonian Radio Eesti Raadio (Estonian Radio, ER) was the public service radio broadcaster of Estonia that, at the time of closure, operated five national radio stations. It was closed in 2007 as a result of a merger with Eesti Televisioon (Estonian Television, ...). Klassikaraadio is the only radio station in Estonia which regularly transmit classical music. Visby () is an urban area in Sweden and the seat of Gotland Municipality in Gotland County on the island of Gotland with 24,330 inhabitants . Visby is also the episcopal see for the Diocese of Visby. Heino Eller
Heino Eller (7 March 1887 – 16 June 1970) was an Estonian composer and pedagogue, known as the founder of contemporary Estonian symphonic music. Life Eller was born in Tartu, where he took private lessons in violin and music theory, played in several ensembles and orchestras, and performed as violin soloist. In 1907 he entered the Saint Petersburg Conservatory to study violin. From 1908 to 1911 he was a law student. In 1920 Eller graduated from the conservatory renamed to Petrograd Conservatory. His younger brother was sculptor Aleksander Eller. From 1920 to 1940, Eller was a professor of music theory and composition at the Tartu Higher School for Music. During this time he formed the Tartu school of composition, which gave rise to many composers, including Eduard Tubin. In 1940 he became a professor of composition at the Tallinn Conservatory and taught there until his death in 1970. Eller was a teacher of composition.
