Michael Kinney (politician)
Michael Kinney (January 13, 1875 – February 19, 1971) was a lawyer and state legislator in Missouri. He served on the Missouri Senate for over 50 years. He succeeded his brother, Senator Thomas Kinney Thomas Kinney (March 3, 1868 – May 15, 1912), nicknamed "Snake", was a Missouri state senator and organized crime figure in St. Louis in the early 20th century. Thomas Kinney
Thomas Kinney (March 3, 1868 – May 15, 1912), nicknamed "Snake", was a Missouri state senator and organized crime figure in St. Louis in the early 20th century. He was one of the founding members of the infamous Egan's Rats gang. The Irish-American Thomas "Snake" Kinney was born and raised in St. Louis's "Kerry Patch" neighborhood. He and his brothers, Michael Kinney, Michael and William J. Kinney, William, worked as newsboys during the late 19th century. Tom would always snatch the biggest bundle of papers for himself in the morning, but always square accounts with his victim at the end of the day. One newsboy who had been victimized by Kinney complained to a local beat cop, who exclaimed, "That little Kinney sneaked the papers!" Raymond Howard (born March 13, 1935) is an American politician who served in the Missouri Senate and the Missouri House of Representatives The Missouri House of Representatives is the lower chamber of the Missouri General Assembly. He was previously elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 1964, serving until 1968. Howard served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne, reaching the rank of lieutenant. Missouri Senate
The Missouri Senate is the upper chamber of the Missouri General Assembly. It has 34 members, representing districts with an average population of 174,000. Its members serve four-year terms, with half the seats being up for election every two years. The Senate chooses a President Pro Tempore to serve in the absence of the lieutenant governor or when he shall have to exercise the office of governor of Missouri if there is a vacancy in that office due to death, resignation, impeachment, or incapacitation. Members of the Missouri General Assembly are prohibited from serving more than eight years in either the state house of representatives or state senate, or a total of sixteen years, due to statutory term limits.
