Metzler traces its origins to a trading company established 1674 by Benjamin Metzler in Frankfurt and is Germany’s second oldest bank (after Berenberg Bank) and the world's 5th oldest. Franklin Allen, (born 6 March 1956) is a British economist and academic. Since 2014, he has been professor of finance and economics, and executive director of the Brevan Howard Centre at Imperial College London. He was the Nippon Life Professor of Finance and Economics at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Christian Leuz (born 1967) is a German business economist, specializing in finance, accounting, and institutional economics. He is the Charles F. Pohl Distinguished Service Professor of Accounting and Finance at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Leuz began his studies at Goethe University Frankfurt, Germany where he studied business economics. At the University of Wisconsin, Madison, he received an M.S. in Finance and Management before returning to Germany to pursue his PhD studies. Jan Pieter Krahnen (born 31 August 1954) is Professor for corporate finance at the Goethe-University Frankfurt and director of the Center for Financial Studies and the Research Center SAFE. Life After completing an apprenticeship at the BHF-Bank, Krahnen studied business administration at the Goethe University Frankfurt where he earned a PhD in 1984. Four years later he received his postdoctoral lecture qualification (habilitation) from the Freie Universität Berlin.
