Melodifestivalen 1995
Sweden's entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 1995, held in Dublin, Ireland, was Jan Johansen with the song "Se på mig". Before Eurovision Melodifestivalen 1995 Melodifestivalen 1995 was the selection for the 35th song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 34th time that this system of picking a song had been used. 986 songs were submitted to SVT for the competition. The final was held in the Malmö Musikteater in Malmö on 24 February 1995, presented by Pernilla Månsson Colt and broadcast on TV2 and Sveriges Radio's P3 and P4 networks. The show was watched by 3,646,000 people. At Eurovision On the night of the contest Johansen performed 18th, following Cyprus and following Denmark. One of the favourites to win, it finished in 3rd place with 100 points. Jan Johansen (singer)
Jan Christian Johansen (born 9 January 1966) is a Sweden, Swedish singer, best known for representing Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 1995. Life and career Jan Johansen represented Sweden at the 1995 Eurovision Song Contest with "Se på mig" and finished third with 100 points. The song stayed at the top of Svensktoppen for fifteen weeks, charting for thirty weeks in total. His father is the Norwegian jazz musician Egil Johansen (musician), Egil Johansen and his mother is the Norwegian-born 50s jazz singer Ellen Böbak. Johansen has participated in Melodifestivalen four times since "Se på mig" - fourth place in Melodifestivalen 2001, 2001 with "Ingenmansland", seventh place in Melodifestivalen 2002, 2002 with "Sista andetaget" and second place in Melodifestivalen 2003 with "Let Your Spirit Fly", a duet with Pernilla Wahlgren. P4 (''pe fyra'') is a national radio channel produced by the Swedish public broadcaster Sveriges Radio. P4 was started in 1987 as a network of regional stations, but national programming was added in 1993 when P3 was relaunched as a specialist youth channel and P4 took over a large part of P3's former programming intended for a more adult audience. Programming Targeted at an across-the-board audience, but with the emphasis on older listeners, it is the corporation's most popular radio channel, presenting popular music, entertainment, and sport. On weekdays most of the daytime schedule comes from 25 different regional stations, each producing programming (including local news coverage) for their own areas, while in the evenings and at weekends the channel carries national programming. Edin-Ådahl
Edin-Ådahl were a Swedish CCM band from 1977 to 1994, composed of brothers Bertil and Lasse Edin and Simon and Frank Ådahl. The group are best known for their 1990 hit "Som en vind" ( en, "Like a Wind"). It won the 1990 Melodifestivalen and went on to place sixteenth at the Eurovision Song Contest. The following year, the band placed second in the Melodifestivalen. Simon Ådahl participated in 1995 together with Lasse Edin. Another song, "Revival", rose to No. 3 on Sweden's radio charts. Ingela ''Maria'' Kristina Rådsten-Ekman (born 6 April 1966) is a Swedish singer. She began her musical career with the group Peter's Pop Squad. Later, she would become part of One More Time, with which she achieved great international success. Marianne Elisabeth Grönwall (, née ''Nordqvist''; born 18 May 1962), known by her stage name Nanne (), is a Swedish singer-songwriter. Biography Grönvall's musical career started in the 1980s group Sound of Music. The trio participated twice in the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest selections, Melodifestivalen, finishing fourth both times; in 1986 with "Eldorado" and in 1987 with "Alexandra". Over the following ten years, she established herself as a songwriter in Melodifestivalen, writing two songs for the 1992 competition and the 1995 runner-up "Det vackraste" ("The Most Beautiful Thing") performed by Cecilia Vennersten. "Det vackraste" (lit. "The Most Beautiful Thing" eng. "Living in a Dream") is a Swedish love song. It was originally sung by Swedish pop singer Cecilia Vennersten and finished second in the Melodifestivalen 1995, the Swedish selections for Eurovision Song Contest. The song was released as a single and stayed 47 weeks in the Swedish singles chart total, including seven weeks at number-one. It also stayed at Svensktoppen for 26 weeks during the period 29 April-21 October 1995, with 3rd place as best result there. The song was awarded a Swedish Grammy Award, Grammis, for Best Song of 1995. In Norway, "Det vackraste" peaked at number 2. The song is written by Nanne Grönvall, Peter Grönvall and Maria Rådsten. They also form the pop group One More Time, and they recorded the song with English lyrics in 1997, called "Living in a Dream". Cecilia Birgitta Vennersten-Ingemansson (born 26 September 1970 in Gothenburg) is a Swedish pop singer. Cecilia Vennersten performed the Mariah Carey song "Hero" on ''Sikta mot stjärnorna'' in 1994. Her career started with a second place finish in the Swedish qualifier for the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Det vackraste".
