Georges Mathé (9 July 1922 – 15 October 2010) was a French oncologist and immunologist. In November 1958, he performed the first successful allogeneic bone marrow transplant ever performed on unrelated human beings. In 1963, he applied the bone marrow graft technique to cure a leukemic patient. Biography Georges Mathé was born in 1922 in the village of Sermages, France, from a rural family. Selected by his village school master, he was sent to study in a boarding school in Moulins, Allier. Education and early career During World War II, he participated in the French Resistance, and studied to become a medical doctor in Paris. He graduated in 1950–51 with honors. Kayra Sayit (born Ketty Mathé on 13 February 1988) is a French-born Turkish European champion female judoka competing in the +78 kg division. Coming from Saint-Brieuc-de-Mauron in Brittany, she competed for France until her marriage in Turkey in February 2015. She then changed her name from Ketty Mathé to Kayra Sayit, and began to compete for Turkey after acquiring the Turkish citizenship. She was a finalist in Prague in 2011, and was selected along with fellow Breton Laëtitia Payet for the World Championships in judo from 23 to 28 August in Paris-Bercy. In 2016, she won the gold medal at Grand Prix Tbilisi, and at the European Judo Championships in Kazan, Russia. In 2021, she won one of the bronze medals in her event at the 2021 Judo World Masters held in Doha, Qatar. She took the gold medal at the 2021 European Judo Championships in Lisbon, Portugal. Mathé Altéry (, born Marie-Thérèse Renée Micheline Altare, 12 September 1927) is a French soprano prominent in the 1950s and 1960s. Mathé Altéry is the daughter of French tenor Mario Altéry. Career Altéry was born in Paris. She began her singing career in Cherbourg-Octeville, Manche, Normandy, where her father was working at the time. After studying classical music, Altéry began as a chorister at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, in the operetta ''Annie du Far-West (Annie of the Wild West)''. In 1956, Altéry represented France in the first Eurovision Song Contest, with the song "Le temps perdu" ''(Lost Time)''. During the first contest only the winning song was announced, and so the rank of her song is unknown. As of 2022, she is the oldest living Eurovision contestant.
