2018 CONCACAF Women's Championship
The 2018 CONCACAF Women's Championship was the 10th edition of the CONCACAF Women's Championship (also known as the CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup or the CONCACAF Women's World Cup Qualifying Tournament), the quadrennial international football championship organized by CONCACAF for the women's national teams of the North, Central American and Caribbean region. Eight teams played in the tournament, which took place from 4 to 17 October 2018 in the United States. The tournament served as the CONCACAF qualifiers to the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup in France. The 2014 CONCACAF Women's Championship Qualification was a series of women's association football tournaments that determined the participants for the 2014 CONCACAF Women's Championship. Twenty-eight national teams entered the qualification for 6 spots, but three withdrew before playing any match. The qualification was organised by CONCACAF, the Central American Football Union (UNCAF), and the Caribbean Football Union (CFU). Because the 2014 CONCACAF Women's Championship also served as the CONCACAF qualifying tournament for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup, the Championship qualification also served as the first World Cup qualifying stage. The Estadio Olímpico Rommel Fernández Gutiérrez, named after the Panamanian football star Rommel Fernández (1966–1993), is a multi-purpose stadium in Panama City. Qualification A total of eight women's teams qualified to compete at the games, four CONMEBOL teams and four CONCACAF teams. The Estadio de la UNMSM is a multi-purpose stadium located in Lima, Peru, belonging to the National University of San Marcos. The tournament will act as a qualifying tournament for the Central American nations for the 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games. Three teams will qualify from the men's tournament, two teams will qualify from the women's tournament.
