Maro Bonsu-Maro
Maro Bonsu-Maro (born 26 February 1997) is a Cook Islands footballer who currently plays for Manukau United and the Cook Islands national team. Club career Bonsu-Maro competed in the 2017 OFC Champions League with Puaikura. He scored three goals in the Qualifying Stage. Later that year he joined Central United of the NRFL Premier. The following year he joined another Cook Islands club, Tupapa Maraerenga, and competed in the 2018 OFC Champions League. He went on to score a hattrick against Veitongo of Tonga and a brace against Pago Youth of American Samoa. He went on to score against Papua New Guinea's Lae City in the Group Stage. For the next season he joined Auckland City of the New Zealand Football Championship. He remained with the club through the 2021 season when he joined Manukau United of the Cook Islands Round Cup. Pukapuka
Pukapuka, formerly Danger Island, is a coral atoll in the northern group of the Cook Islands in the Pacific Ocean. It is one of most remote islands of the Cook Islands, situated about northwest of Rarotonga. On this small island, an ancient culture and distinct language has been maintained over many centuries. 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualification (OFC)
The Oceanian section of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification acted as qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, to be held in Qatar, for national teams which are members of the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC). A total of 0.5 slots in the final tournament were available for OFC teams, which equated to one inter-confederation play-off slot. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Oceania, the qualification was held as a centralised tournament in Qatar from 17 to 30 March 2022. Format In November 2021, the OFC confirmed the format for the qualifiers in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The qualifying stage was to be a single match on 13 March 2022 between the two lowest-ranked participating OFC nations in the FIFA World Rankings, with the winner advancing to the group stage, but Tonga withdrew from the qualification match causing Cook Islands to automatically enter the group stage. 2016 OFC U-20 Championship
The 2016 OFC U-20 Championship was the 21st edition of the OFC U-20 Championship, the biennial international youth football tournament organized by the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) for players aged 19 and below (despite the name remaining as U-20 Championship). This year, the tournament was held in Vanuatu for the first time by itself (second time overall). Despite the name remaining as U-20 Championship, the age limit was reduced by a year to 19 years of age. So players who wanted to participate in the tournament needed to be born on or after 1 January 1997. At an OFC Executive Committee meeting held at its Auckland headquarters in November 2013 the competition format was modified. The 2013 OFC U-17 Championship was the 15th edition of the OFC's Under 17 championship, the biennial football championship of the Oceanian Confederation. The 2020–21 New Zealand Football Championship season (currently known as the ISPS Handa Men's Premiership for sponsorship reasons) is the seventeenth season of the NZFC since its establishment in 2004. Eight teams compete in the competition with Auckland City and Team Wellington representing the ISPS Handa Men's Premiership in the 2021 OFC Champions League after Auckland City finished Premiers, with Team Wellington finishing regular season runners-up in the 2019–20 competition, after the remainder of the competition was cancelled mid-March due to the COVID-19 pandemic in New Zealand. The change from ten teams to eight teams was due to Tasman United and Southern United joining Canterbury United to form a united South Island team, playing under the Canterbury United name. A total of 16 teams competed in the group stage to decide the eight places in the knockout stage of the 2018 OFC Champions League.
