Mariagerfjord
Mariagerfjord is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in North Jutland Region in Denmark. It covers an area of 723.63 km² (2011) and a has a population of 42,093 (2014). On 1 January 2007 Mariagerfjord municipality was created as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), consisting of the former municipalities of Arden, Hadsund and Hobro, and the major part of Mariager, and a very small part of Aalestrup and a very small part of Nørager municipality. Hobro
Hobro () is an old market and railway town in Region Nordjylland on the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark. It has a population of 12,071 (1 January 2022). The town is situated in a hilly terrain at the head of Mariager Fjord, close to the former Viking fortress of Fyrkat. It is the seat of Mariagerfjord municipality. Politics Hobro was until 1 January 2007 also a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in North Jutland County covering an area of 166 km² and with a total population of 15,318 (2005). North Jutland Region
The North Jutland Region ( da, Region Nordjylland), or in some official sources, the North Denmark Region, is an administrative region of Denmark established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish municipal reform, which abolished the traditional counties () and set up five larger regions. At the same time, smaller municipalities were merged into larger units, cutting the number of municipalities from 271 before 1 January 2006, when Ærø Municipality was created, to 98. Arden Municipality
Arden municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in North Jutland County on the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark until 1 January 2007. The municipality covered an area of 228 km2, and had a total population of 8,513 (2005). Its last mayor was Hans Christian Maarup, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Arden. Hadsund Municipality was a municipality (Danish, kommune) in North Jutland County on the Jutland peninsula in northern Denmark until 1 January 2007 the municipality covered an area of 170.28 km², and had a total population of 10,914 (2004). Mariager Fjord
With a length of approximately 35 km (22 statute miles), Mariager Fjord is the longest fjord in Jutland, and the 2nd longest fjord (Tied with Ise Fjord on Zealand), behind Roskilde Fjord in Denmark (Excluding the self-governing territory of Greenland). Mariager Fjord cuts into the Jutland peninsula from the ''Kattegat'' sea and ends at the town of Hobro; other important towns along the fjord are Hadsund and Mariager from which the fjord takes its name. Mariager fjord makes up most of the southern limit of the traditional region of Himmerland. In Danish language, any type of inlet in Denmark is called a fjord, even lagoons. Geologically, Mariager Fjord isn't a true fjord, but an inlet of the förde type. 2005 Danish Local Elections
The Danish local elections of 2005 were held on 15 November 2005. 2522 Municipalities of Denmark, municipal council members were elected in Denmark's 98 List of municipalities of Denmark, municipalities and 205 regional council members in the Regions of Denmark, five regions. Most of these were newly formed municipalities, namely 66 municipalities, that would only begin working from Monday 1 January 2007, as would the newly formed regions, and one municipality, Ærø Municipality, Ærø, which was also part of the Municipalities of Denmark#Municipal Reform of 2007, reform, which was allowed by the government to commence work for the first time already Sunday 1 January 2006. 2009 Danish Local Elections
The Danish local elections of 2009 were held on 17 November 2009.
