Mariagerfjord Municipality
Mariagerfjord is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in North Jutland Region in Denmark. It covers an area of 723.63 km² (2011) and a has a population of 42,093 (2014). On 1 January 2007 Mariagerfjord municipality was created as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), consisting of the former municipalities of Arden, Hadsund and Hobro, and the major part of Mariager, and a very small part of Aalestrup and a very small part of Nørager municipality. Mariager Fjord
With a length of approximately 35 km (22 statute miles), Mariager Fjord is the longest fjord in Jutland, and the 2nd longest fjord (Tied with Ise Fjord on Zealand), behind Roskilde Fjord in Denmark (Excluding the self-governing territory of Greenland). Mariager Fjord cuts into the Jutland peninsula from the ''Kattegat'' sea and ends at the town of Hobro; other important towns along the fjord are Hadsund and Mariager from which the fjord takes its name. Mariager fjord makes up most of the southern limit of the traditional region of Himmerland. In Danish language, any type of inlet in Denmark is called a fjord, even lagoons. Geologically, Mariager Fjord isn't a true fjord, but an inlet of the förde type. North Denmark Region
The North Jutland Region ( da, Region Nordjylland), or in some official sources, the North Denmark Region, is an administrative region of Denmark established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish municipal reform, which abolished the traditional counties () and set up five larger regions. At the same time, smaller municipalities were merged into larger units, cutting the number of municipalities from 271 before 1 January 2006, when Ærø Municipality was created, to 98. Budtz Müller
Bertel Christian Budtz Müller (26 December 1837 – 30 December 1884) was a pioneering Danish photographer. He operated the photographic studio Budtz Müller & Co. at Bredgade 21 in Copenhagen and was appointed as court photographer in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Early life and education Budtz Müller was born in Mariager, the son of teacher Rasmus Müller (1787–1854) and Arnolde Cathrine Grundtvig (1803–1888). He apprenticed as a pharmacist in Aalborg and then moved to Copenhagen where he graduated as '' candidatus pharmaciae'' in 1858. He worked for a year in Randers, and was then employed by Alfred Benzon, founder of Alfred Benzon A/S, at the Swan Pharmacy in Copenhagen in 1859. Emmelie Charlotte-Victoria de Forest (born 28 February 1993) is a Danish singer and songwriter. De Forest represented Denmark with the song "Only Teardrops" in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in Malmö, Sweden, winning the contest. Vilhelm Dahlerup
Jens Vilhelm Dahlerup (4 August 1836 – 24 January 1907) was a Danish architect who specialized in the Historicist style. One of the most productive and noted Danish architects of the 19th century, he is behind many of the most known buildings and landmarks of his time and has more than any other single architect contributed to the way Copenhagen appears today. Biography Dahlerup was born outside Mariager in Northern Jutland, Denmark. He was the son of the vicar Michael Henrik Ludvig Dahlerup and Susanne Marie le Sage de Fontena.. He received his first drawing lessons in Århus in 1853. He then moved to Copenhagen and began his studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Dahlerup trained under G. F. Hetsch and J.H. Peter Nansen
Peter Nansen (20 January 1861 - 31 July 1918) was a Danish novelist, journalist, and publisher. He is best known as the author of the novels ''Julie's Diary'', ''Marie'', and ''God's Peace'', which together constitute ''Love's Trilogy''. ''Marie'' in particular became in short order very highly esteemed, and Pierre Bonnard's illustrations (which appeared in 1897 in La Revue Blanche) for the novel were much admired by Renoir. An English translation of ''Love's Trilogy'' by Julia Le Gallienne (the second wife of Richard Le Gallienne) appeared in 1908. He was born in Copenhagen and worked for two decades for the publishing house Gyldendal.
