Manish Kumar Verma (born 1 April 1974) is an Indian politician and former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, currently serving as the National General Secretary of the Janata Dal (United) JD(U). He did B.Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT Delhi.After that, he served as 2000-batch Odisha-cadre IAS officer on important posts, Verma previously served as District Magistrate of Patna and Purnia. He took voluntary retirement in 2018 and joined JD(U) in 2024, rising swiftly to a key organizational role and as an additional advisor to the Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He played a significant role in JD(U)’s campaign for the 2024 Indian general election, contributing to the party’s success in winning 12 seats. Nitish Kumar
Nitish Kumar (born 1 March 1951) is an Indian politician who has been serving as the 22nd chief minister of Bihar since 22 February 2015, having previously held the office from 2005 to 2014 and for a short period in 2000. He is Bihar's longest serving chief minister whilst also holding the post for his 9th term. He is the leader of the Janata Dal (United). Previously, Kumar also served as a Union Minister as the Samata Party member. He was member of the Samata Party until 2005 and Janata Dal from 1989 to 1994.
