Madan Singh
Madan Singh (born 4 December 1964) is an Indian former long-distance runner who competed up to the marathon distance. He is currently serving in Border Security Force (B.S.F). From the state of Rajasthan, he represented India at 1991 South Asian Games in Colombo and won a bronze medal in the 5000 metres. In the 31st All India Inter-State Athletics Championship in New Delhi in 1993, he came first in the 10,000 metres run with a time of 29:26:00 to post a new meet record that was only beaten 14 years later by Surendra Singh in 2006. Long-distance running, or endurance running, is a form of continuous running over distances of at least . Physiologically, it is largely aerobic in nature and requires stamina as well as mental strength. Within endurance running comes two different types of respiration. The more prominent side that runners experience more frequently is aerobic respiration. This occurs when oxygen is present, and the body is able to utilize oxygen to help generate energy and muscle activity. On the other side, anaerobic respiration occurs when the body is deprived of oxygen, and this is common towards the final stretch of races when there is a drive to speed up to a greater intensity. The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) is a biennial athletic event, open to active and retired law enforcement and fire service personnel throughout the world.
