MEASI
The Muslim Educational Association of Southern India (MEASI), formerly Madras Executive Committee of Mohamedan Educational Conference and Mohamedan Educational Association of Southern India, is a trust which strives for education among Muslim youth, especially from South India. Establishment The Association, established in 1902 by Muslims, was registered under the societies act XXI of 1860. It was founded as a fulfillment of the dream of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan after the annual session of Muslim Education Conference held in Madras on 28 December 1901. This conference renamed the then existing Madras Executive Committee of Mohamedan Educational Conference as the Mohamedan Educational Association of Southern India, which later came to be known as Muslim Educational Association of Southern India. The New College, Chennai
The New College ( ta, புதுக்கல்லூரி) is an institution of higher education in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Established in 1951, the institution is one of the affiliated colleges of the University of Madras, with autonomous status. The college was established by the Muslim Educational Association of Southern India (MEASI) to meet the educational requirements of the Muslim students in South India. The maximum 90% of strength in college is Muslim students. Location The college is located in the Center of Chennai on a campus. It is one of the few colleges in Chennai located within the city hub. The older buildings are notable for their Indo-Saracenic architecture which stand in contrast to the new educational blocks. The older buildings are being renovated. South India
South India, also known as Dakshina Bharata or Peninsular India, consists of the peninsular southern part of India. Sir Syed Ahmed Khan
Sir Syed Ahmad Khan Order of the Star of India, KCSI (17 October 1817 – 27 March 1898; also Sayyid Ahmad Khan) was an Indian people, Indian Muslim Islamic modernist, reformer, philosopher, and educationist in nineteenth-century British Raj, British India. Though initially espousing Hindu-Muslim unity, he became the pioneer of Muslim nationalism in South Asia, Muslim nationalism in India and is widely credited as the father of the two-nation theory, which formed the basis of the Pakistan movement. Tipu Sultan
Tipu Sultan (born Sultan Fateh Ali Sahab Tipu, 1 December 1751 – 4 May 1799), also known as the Tiger of Mysore, was the ruler of the Kingdom of Mysore based in South India. Abdur Rahim (judge)
Sir Abdur Rahim, (7 September 1867 – 1952), sometimes spelled Abdul Rahim, was a judge and politician in British India, and a leading member of the Muslim League. He was President of the Nikhil Banga Praja Samiti from 1929 to 1934 and of the Central Legislative Assembly of India from 1935 to 1945. Life Rahim was born into a highly educated family of Bengal, the son of Mawlawi Abdur Rab, who was a zamindar in the province's Midnapore district. Muhammad Habibullah
Khan Bahadur Sir Muhammad Habibullah KCSI KCIE (22 September 1869 – 16 May 1948) was an Indian politician and administrator who served as the Dewan of Travancore from 1934 to 1936. Personal life Habibullah was born in Madras (now Chennai) to Aushukh Hussain Khan Saheb on 22 September 1869. He was a member of the Arcot royal family and closely related to the Nawabs of Arcot. Mohammad Usman Of Madras
Khan Bahadur Sir Mohammad Usman (1884 – 1 February 1960) was an Indian politician, hakim and socialite who served as the Minister of Home for the Madras Presidency in the Justice Party government of the Raja of Bobbili and as the first Indian acting Governor of Madras from 16May 1934 to 16August 1934. His name is often written Muhammad Usman. Usman was born into an aristocratic family of Tanjore in the Madras Presidency in 1884. He graduated from Madras Christian College and joined the Justice Party. He was elected to the Madras Legislative Council and later, to the Governor's executive council. Muhammad Ismail
M. Muhammad Ismail (5 June 1896—5 April 1972) was an Indian politician and social worker from Tirunelveli, southern Tamil Nadu. He served as the first President of Indian Union Muslim League after the partition of British India.
