A loading race or medley is an event in World's Strongest Man and other similar strongman competitions which requires competitors to carry, drag and load several heavy and irregular objects onto a platform over a course usually ranging from 10 to 30 meters. The competitor to move and load all objects in the fastest time is the winner. World's Strongest Man
The World's Strongest Man is an international Strongman competition held every year. Organized by American event management company IMG, a subsidiary of Endeavor, it is broadcast in the US during summers and in the UK around the end of December each year. Competitors qualify based on placing in the top three at the four to eight Giants Live events each year. The current event sponsor is SBD Apparel. Janne Virtanen
Janne Virtanen (born 16 November 1969) is a Finnish former strongman who won the World's Strongest Man championship in 2000. He was runner-up in 1999 and finished third in 2001. His other championships include four-time Finland's Strongest Man (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001), Helsinki Grand Prix (2000), and the Turkey Grand Prix in 2002 in Istanbul. Following his second consecutive failure to reach the final of the World's Strongest Man in 2007, he announced his retirement but entered into the third qualifying heat of the competition in 2008. Jón Páll Sigmarsson (28 April 1960 – 16 January 1993) was an Icelandic strongman, powerlifter and bodybuilder who was the first man to win the World's Strongest Man four times and the first and only man to win the World Muscle Power Classic five times. Mike Burke (strongman)
Mike Burke (born June 14, 1974) is an American professional strongman competitor from Aurora, Colorado. Mike won the 2012 All-American Strongman Challenge in January 2012. This victory qualified him for the 2012 Arnold Strongman Classic and he finished in 5th place. Burke placed third at the Giants Live event in Melbourne, Australia on March 17, 2012. This placing qualified Burke for the 2012 World's Strongest Man contest, however, he failed to make the finals. Just one day after the 2012 World's Strongest Man contest, Burke competed in the 2012 America's Strongest Man contest and took first place.
